Anyone Install Shift Knob On E70 Before?

Just received my bamboo shift knob. Had to order from Germany.
Anyone install one of these before?

Garage List
I am waiting for mine. If you get a reply on how to install, please post it. I am interested in finding out DIY instructions as well (hopefully not causing any damage to the metal one)

Yeah it's really simple. Just identify the ring underneath the gear stick and turn it clockwise from the 6 o click position to a 9 o click position.

Once released with a aid of a BMW trim pryer or a flat screw driver head between the ring and the gear shift from the bottom and try to pull set the the gear knob trim. The parking button would also come out along the gear knob trim and and would have to attached back on the new trim with a double sided tape. These are from the BMW E70 workshop manual. Hope it helps for the both of you.

Doing this upgrade tomorrow, but I did not get the double sided tape part.
The park button should be taped ?

Sedan_Clan.
Just installed the X5M one..
It is actually VERY easy. Turn the ring located at the bottom of the leaver 90´ clockwise.
and the whole knob comes a part with just prying your finger nails between the metal and the leather.
Click the whole thing back together. Plug and play. Turn the lower ring back 90´counterclock and you just got one of these :

I am having a heck of a time trying to turn the ring at the bottom. Is there any tricks to it? Or just twist it harder?
