Navigation "frozen/stuck/lost?"

I've just bought a 2008 X5 (E70) and I seem to be having some issues with the Navigation...

When I start the vehicle or re-insert the Nav DVD, the unit shows my current location. As soon as I set off on a trip nothing happens, it just sticks with my original point of origin.

I have ordered and new 2014 DVD form http://www.satnavupgrades.co.uk just incase the disc is at fault, it was cheap enough to take a punt on but if that doesn't work I've got no idea!

If anyone can help with my issue I'd be keen to hear back. The antenna must be connected for it to initially find my position... or am I just being really dense and missing something very obvious?

Thanks

What you need is a new GPS DVD player, the anti vibration gel harden in time, so the DVD player won't function correctly. It cost less than $200 US with core return. I replaced mine myself and now works great.

Ah thank you (for the not so great news)!

Would that also explain why regular DVD's don't play either? I only thought to try this last night.

So the new 2014 disc arrived today and installed no problem. Surely there can't be an issue with the DVD drive if its managed to read the new disc and up load the information?

Again the antenna must be connected to find the current position each time. Its as if there is a start route button I am not pressing... I can't find any thing... Programme route/set address - Start guidance. Is there anything more to it than that?

Starting to drive me crazy now!
