Someone please-please help with X6 vs. Iphone4

I am having a really hard time understanding what my particular 2011 X6 is capable of as far as Iphone4 App integration through the iDrive. I guess the question comes down to, what is the vehicle capable of from the factory without any retrofitting etc. I would truly appreciate any feedback as I am very confused as if I have the necessarry components for app integration or if my vehicle was made too early for integration. I think the dealer indicated my vehicle does have the Combox but I do not see it anywhere on the window sticker.

2011 X6 5.0
Build Date is either 11/2010 or 12/2010 (not sure how to find)
Premium Sound
Premium Package
HUD
Sport
RearView Camera

I thought it was factory option only for 2012 models

What apps are you trying to get working?

Your car was built before the "BMW Apps" stuff came along. You should get album art when listening to iTunes music tho.

You need to get the programming retrofit which you can find threads on here to get the apps, webradio, pandora, etc working. They will all work with your vehicle after the new programming - no hardware change necessary. You then have to download the BMW app and connect.

I don't get any album artwork with mine.. same year and model as yours..

Other than that, it uses the same menu system as the iphone.. select playlist then lists the songs...

Date of manufacture should be on the nomenture plate on the driver's door frame.

How are you connecting your phone? If you're using the Y-cable, you won't get art. If you just use the Apple USB to Dock connector cable, you should...

Hey guys, I have an x6 40d but I can't get the car to recognize either my iPhone or iPad. It just says it's not supported.

Any suggestions?
