MPG

Everyone on the board,
How many miles per gallon are you getting on your X5 xdrive30i?

I'm getting about 15 mpg normal driving... not too much on the freeway. Is this about normal? I was hoping to get closer to 20 mpg. My previous SUV was a Lexus GX470, V8 and I got about 13 to 14.

How many miles have you put on the X5? Usually, after the break-in period, the mpg will go up.

It may have been a V8 but the same horsepower.

X5 3.0, M3, 335, X6 35, etc. all get about 15-20MPG, or 18-24 depending on how you drive.

I would say you are within the limits.

Also, where you live has a big factor. Is your town flat or hilly? Here in San Diego, the hills reduce MPG 10-20%.

I must be driving like an old lady or something.

I get 21-23 around town. On the freeway (longer trips), I get 31+, with a good portion of the driving at 80 mph+. I got the same mileage on trips to northern Maine from Philly, and to Great Smoky Mountain National Park in Tennessee from Philly.

It was nice to cut my fueling stops by half.

Cheers,

Mike

Just under 10K miles.

So the latest development... I drive a 530i on weekday to work. When I last drove the X5, the computer said 15 mpg. My wife drives the X5 for errands around town. When I got into the X5, it now said 10 mpg. Conclusion, my wife has a heavier foot than I, LOL. I'm assuming the short, stop and go driving will probably get me about 13 to 15.
