Buying High Mileage X6 advice needed
I currently drive an AW E46 M3 and planning to move to a used 2010+ X6.
The AW 2010 X6 that i'm looking at is fully loaded with sport/premium/tech package but it has 62k miles. I love AW and do want that color on an X6. Questions. 1) Any concerns on the high mileage ? 2) What should i look out for ? 3) Would you buy it ? |

1) Only 5.0i 2) look under suspension its completely fucked up, like bars, link stabilizers and etc, alignment to see if the previous owner had some fancy bullshit rims, which he cracked on some pothole. etc. Turbo. 3) NO! |

I would say don't buy. If you do definately get a CPO. I feel bad for whoever bought mine with 50k on it. It fell apart with 45k on it. My power steering pump needed to be replaced $2500, my DVD harddrive went up $1500, my engine repeatedly started misfiring with 48k on it. It was in the shop almost the last four months I owned it. When it started misfiring I had it fixed which was covered under warranty and got rid of it.
Other than that it was a great vehicle! |

I have a Alpine White 35i with 94,000 miles on it. I would say only buy it if you either can transfer a existing extended warranty or plan to buy one. They are expensive....3700.00 for everything that will take you from 50,000 to 100,000. My warranty has paid for itself twice over. I will say this, it really does not bother me when it goes in, my dealer gives me a new 5 series and the change is nice. If you have a good dealer nearby and figure the cost of the warranty I say go for it !! Hope this helps !!

I had a 2009 50i. Bought it w 32000kms in it. In one year it was in the shop for 11.5 weeks. Pretty much everything on the engine was replaced I think. Plus battery issues. I loved it, but traded it in bc it seemed like a lemon. I miss it, but I won't buy another one bc I just don't feel they are reliable. I ended up w 328s and an X1 for loaners. Both I would equate to a Toyota Tercel. Lucky poster who got the 5 series.

Mine has 55k miles on it and has not missed a beat at all in the 6 months i have owned it and was pretty much trouble free from new according to the previous owner.
I have BMW warranty just incase and i think you need a warranty to cover the big bills IF you have them but i think the other stories here are the rare occasion. Think of those in relation to the amount of X6's on here / sold since launch and i bet its a tiny percentage. Its a great car, sure the trim is a bit rattly when its cold but other than that its holding up just fine. If you want one get one, but test several and get the one you feel is best. Just my thoughts. |

2010 X6 35i with 64k owner
I was wondering if my car has been reliable or not. I guess reading the replies makes me feel like my car has proven itself to be worthy. I got mine manufactured in 2010 Feb and picked up in April. I had an issue with my navigation screen after two months from day one. they replaced the screen and since then one tail light went off and that's it.
No engine failure, no power reduction. Although after riding 2012 Merc CLS that my brother in law has, I started to feel 6 speed gear box a little rattling compare to 8. Anyway, I once considered it myself of trading my car around 45k, but I did some mods on my car's appearances and I couldn't trade it out of my love. I decided to keep it and see if this car lasts as long as it doesn't have an engine failure. I am moving to California from North Carolina. I am gonna drive there. So I will find out if my car is up for the cross-continent challenge and see what it's made of!! |

The original post was back in 2012, talking about a 2010 with 62k miles, which would be ~20kyr Jason - the video has been added to several old threads |
