Hesitates to start in cold weather

2012 X5M 29,000 mi. My first winter, having difficulty starting when left outside for some time in temps lower than 32. Still under manufactory warranty, if I need a new battery, is it covered by maintenance?
Thank you........

Garage List
I had the same problem last winter with my X5 diesel and i had to tow it into the dealer. Mine is a 2011 and the battery froze and cracked and the dealer replaced it under warranty.

Never had issues starting my '12 X5M, but would often get the "Increased battery discharge" error message during cold weather. SA said my battery was fine, but they still got the OK to swap out for a new one from BMW. Now, all issues are gone.

Highly suggest putting battery charger on it overnight. I picked one up from my dealer (around $70) and leave it on as often as I can. May be tricky if you don't have it in a garage, but it's a good thing to do.
