muffler delete options?

i want to put an after maket muffler on my 35i as the n55 is a beautiful sounding engine, i was going to do a cat back exuast until i got the car on a lift and notice that the exust is really just a straight pipe to a secondary cat/resonater maybe? idk and decided to just do an axel back but having trouble finding exuast that aren’t made for the f15 does anyone here run a non oe muffler or exaust and have any suggestions?

I have the stock rear muffler with OEM end tips without the flap.

Sounds great, not to loud in the car, and a nice modest sound outside.

When cold, it’s very loud.

The tips can be orderd at the dealer see foto

i have the flap zip tied open since it’s a vacuum actuated instead of electronic like later models. but i feel like the factory muffler is a little too restrictive and muffles the engine a lot, but i might keep the stock muffler for now because i don’t want it to be too loud when i make the switch to a catless DP or a high flow you know?

The M performance muffler is an option. I think it’s been discontinued but may be able to find it somewhere out there. I’ll be cutting my muffler off and having 2 vibrant ultra quiet resonators installed with new tips. Been planning for a while but life and maintenance keep getting in the way

I did a check last night, I have the standaard muffler with the performance tips.

My guess is that one of the previus owners, saw the standaard tips off and placed the performance one ( bolt right on) I replaced them becouse the (Chrome tips looked bad) now I have black ones because the Chrome ones are where out of stock.

The exhaust sound can be changed when you use different end tips.

Just be aware, there were 3 different exhaust setups with the N55.

One base model cars, you have the standard chrome, round tips setup.

On M Sport cars, I believe the muffler was the same as the base cars but the tips were oval & chrome to match the M Sport bumper exhaust opening.

Then there was the true M Performance muffler. This ditched the valve on the passenger side so you had exhaust gasses flowing thru both tips all the time. Muffler sounded more aggressive. Tips were oval black chrome.
