Bluetooth Audio Retrofit? 2010 X5 4.8i

I've heard that Bluetooth audio was an option for the CIC iDrive and I was wondering if its dictated by a part replacement or if its just all software based. I have the Bluetooth calling, but my X5 is an earlier 2010 so a lot of things are in the weird gray zone of "this method only works for 2009 CCC and the other method only works on CIC after 2011." Any help?
