Well, its a quick and easy fix (if that's what the problem is) before you start draining the transmission fluid + Filter + pan etc. (costly job)
Replacing the transfer fluid fixed my problem ... if it hadn't then my next step would have been the transmission flush. BTW I also did an Adaptive drive reset after the transfer flush.. I have a 2009 4.8i xdrive and it was lurching between 2nd and 1st when slowing. The dealer reset the transmission twice, drained and refilled the fluid and still it occurred. eventually they replaced the transmission under warranty. It has 83k miles.
