Battery Drain
Looking for some help guys. I really like the 2007-2009 X5 4.8 - the major issue I have found searching through the threads is the battery drain issue. Are there any years that are void of this issue? If I typically only drive 10 miles a day, should I expect to run into this issue again and again?

I have a 2010 X5M and recently notice that if I park the car outside for 10 hrs I will get an "Increased battery discharge" message when I start the car. I don't receive the message if I park it in the garage (not heated) even for several days. I've searched the net but found no answer to why the battery is drained only if I park outside. Temperature is about 6 or 7 Celcius so not cold weather related.
Wondering if I park it outside for more 24 hrs would I be able to start it again. Any suggestions? |

I had a need to examine the battery the other day in my X6 35D and was suprised to find that it appears to be smaller than the battery that was fitted to my ex BMW a 1 Series 123D. Obviously size isnt a scientific measure of battery capacity but its suprising allt the same. The 1 was fitted with stop/start so did use the starter quiet a lot in urban traffic (hence the bigger batt most likely)
