Climate control panel and tilt wheel stopped working. 2011 e70 x5
Hey guys, I saw one other guy post about this a couple years ago, but didn’t see an answer. All of a sudden my tilt wheel went to the starting setting, and won’t move. and my climate control panel went dark, no buttons working. I checked the fuses and they are connected I believe in the #1 fuse spot, but I checked and even replaced the 20a fuse and it didn’t fix it. Any ideas?

My in/out wheel motor stops working when it gets really cold outside, and once it warms up it starts again.
Sometimes, you can tilt the wheel all the way up and then all the way back down, and it will start working again. If yours isn’t going up/down, try doing this but in the other direction. No guarantee but it’s worth a shot 🤷‍♂️ |

It’s not the actual tilt function I don’t believe, because the climate control panel won’t work either. Something loose electrical I’m guessing, just don’t know where to look.

Have you checked fuses? If I am looking at the right diagram online, fuse 1 should send power for both steering wheel tilt and ac.
Other fuses listed for these Steering wheel 1,134 Ac 1, 17, 18, 48, 98, 126

Turns out it’s a bad IHKA, which is the climate control panel itself. This also feeds the tilt wheel motor. $1200 new from BMW and needs to be programmed to the car. 🙄
