BMW 1 - Lexus 0

Just 2 months after picking up my "new to me" X5, was rear ended on the highway by this massive Lexus truck who was quoted as going "60mph" when he slammed into me while stopped in traffic. Forcing me into a poor little civic. I was able to drive my baby away from the accident, the Lexus was totaled.

Initial quote for repairs floated in the $9,000 range with the final number settling around $12,000 for repairs. The entire lift gate and rear bumper, and exhaust were replaced. Surprised my insurance didn't total out, but even more surprised of how well the X5 handled the impact

Agreed OP!the X5 is very well built and with the Collison I suffered as well it is amazing that not one single passenger in my vehicle barely felt it!

Reason number 10000000 why I will always buy a German vehicle as long as I can afford to.

Wow, glad you're OK, but good to know the structural strength of these cars is excellent. BMW FTW!

I had a gx 470 like that. It seemed like a very solid chassis. Amazed at the
difference in damage. ???? find more on the X5 as started taking damaged
parts off. That is a pretty good hit, Drive line seal and stuff which absorbed
some of the impact

Have you guys not heard of the crumple zone on cars built these days?
The Lexus front end did exactly what it was suppose to do.. The BMW X5 would
ideally have the same outcome if it was in the Lexus position...
