2009 x5m ccc problems
hi guys just purchased a 2009 x5m everything seems fine until today when the CIC runs for about 30 seconds and switches off I tried doing a reboot which does make it come back on but only for about 30 seconds any ideas ?
at the moment I have disconnected the battery for about an hour and topped up the charge to see if it makes a difference . |

First model year of the X5M was 2010, by the way.
Do you have a 4.8i?

They came out in 2009, but I thought they were all MY2010. They debuted in early 2009 then some auto shows in late 2009. Should be a 2010 truck though.
Maybe the screen is not getting the signal or the idrive needs new software? My wife's 2008 X5 has started having Idrive problems where it freezes. It's just like having an old laptop; they will start to go slow and have problems then just die. Good reason to look at NBT retrofits. |

Yes, produced in 2009, but model year 2010.

we have talked about u NBT before, just a quick question of topic (sorry to OP) I just drove couple of loaners in the last few days, 2017 330i and 2017 X6, they both had ID5 in them, I know ID6 only were available in G30 5 series, my question is about screen, f16 screen was much bigger than the one in 330i and it also was a touch screen! Can you tell me what screen did you get with your retrofit kit?
Thank you! |

The screen is the f15 style 10.2" screen. I could have gone touch, but the parts are far and few between so to get a touch system will set you back almost 4K now as the screen and EVO unit are Special hardware. Give it a few years and things will come down. |

In all seriousness though, if it is an actual hardware issue, you may be better off buying a used CIC. The BMW diagnosis will be like $150-180 then a hardware replacement will already be a few hundred then coding. All of that for a few generation old system. I know lots of money goes into buying a car in the first place, and my wife never lets me buy anything for a few months after a car purchase, but if it were my car I'd put money toward an upgrade. |

Loving my NBT EVO with ID6 also!
Brings the far better looking E70 platform up to date with the F platform interior, IMHO You really need to see the 10.2" display with ID6 to believe how good it looks. You can buy a complete kit (with or without touchscreen) from Bimmer Retrofit. Depending on your X5s config should be in the $2000 range complete to your door. If you want the touchscreen, which I didn't as the finger prints would drive me crazy, add about $500. They have a couple of really good videos on their web page, and a complete detailed install video for the E70 (if you want to wee what's involved) on YouTube.

It will of course fall when things build up again! Also they don't have the 10.2" screen yet so you would have to get the larger 7 series monitor which would make your glove box not work as it would interfere with it opening. So until they get a 10.2" f15 style screen I'm not even looking at touch. |
