Tune for X6 50i?

is there a tune available for it? I figured running the same engine as the X6M there should be some sort of tuning capabilities for this.

BMW actually has a "Performance Power Kit" software available for pre 4/10 production 5.0i's. It increases HP to 440 and Torque to 480 lb-ft. I have it installed in my 5.0i and am very happy with it. It also enhances the exhaust note.

I'm hopeful BMW will be releasing an OEM tune upgrade for the 8 speed X6 (post 4/10 production). I just purchased a new to me 2011 50i and wanting to get it if/when it does come out..

My dealer tells me BMW typically releases upgrades/enhancements beginning of the summer so maybe we'll see something June/July...

Its the same motor - I'm guessing the only difference/delay is just progamming for the differnt dynamics of 8spd vs. 6spd...

How much was the performance kit for it? Was it noticeable and worth it?

$1500. I had read it went from a factory only option to a after-market dealer option. I even saw it in the BMW accessory guide but can't find it anymore.

I've only ever know it so I don't know what it's like without it. More here:

Dinan has tuning available for the X5/X6 5.0. The Stage 2 tune is very popular and brings the truck up to 501HP/580tq. Dinan was running a sale last month, so I would check with local dealers to see if they extended it!

We have a few tuning options available for that platform that have been discussed on this forum as well as purchased by several members. While the engines are from the same family the turbos and a few other things are different.

Sending PM.

Through July 2012 the pricing was much lower and I took advantage of monthly dealer special discount on the "Performance Power Kit" so my total price installed was about $850. The pricing went up considerably directly following my purchase and is now $1253 plus installation through BMWUSA (individual dealers sometimes have better pricing)
