Auto High beams? Meh...

Do you have to order the mult-contour seats with the 35i w/Sport?? If so -- GET EM!

I personally think woodgrain would be richer than aluminum with the saddle brown -- but that's a very personal choice.

I thought the auto high beams might be helpful because I drive on a lot of unlit side roads at night ... I figured it was a cheap option and I'd give it a shot ...

Yea, unfortunately the multi-contour seats are an additional charge on the 35i ... but I tried them out at the NY Auto Show in April and loved them!

And I thought long and hard about Aluminum vs Bamboo trim ... they are both very nice! ... In the end I went with the Aluminum as I thought it was a little more sporty ... especially for a younger guy ...

After Sport and Cold the MC seats would be 3rd on my list -- they rock.

Only other point I'd offer-up is be prepared to be buying wheels/snow tires this winter with the sport 20's...Put em on as soon as the cold weather hits..The 20's will be like hockey pucks and won't get you far - even with XDrive..It's the price we pay for living in the snow belt and wanting something bigger than all season 19's.

Yea, I am looking forward to them!

Definitely a good tip! I think I am going to start keeping my eyes open for a set of OEM 19" X6 wheels that I can through a set of snows on for the winter! I do that with my M3 (even though I don't drive it in the snow) just incase I need to take it out in low temps.

I was just like you when it came to interior trim. I've always hated having wood interior, but I'm so glad I opted for the dark bamboo trim. It makes the interior much more elegant and sporty. The dark glossy bamboo looks so much better then the aluminum. Aluminum trim that's available IMO makes the interior quite drab and boring. I much prefer the aluminum Audi offers, much better then what BMW has.

Thank you for the suggestion! I think if I was going with the black leather I would go with the bamboo to add some richness to the interior. Because I am going with Saddle Brown I think the wood might look too luxury and not sporty enough ...

Here are a couple pictures I found of the Saddle / Aluminum Combo ...

Rac10000,
looking good!

i just picked up my 50i today. loving it so far. i'm not a serious audio guy so if i do it again i probably would leave the Premium Sound Package alone. all i want was the USB jack & i thought only by ordering the Premium Sound Package u get the USB jack. guess i was wrong... i would actually consider the full leather dash instead of Premium Sound but anyway, i got what i got. can't complaint.

as far as the interior trims, i optioned the Aluminum as well. same reason as yours, being or feeling younger. however, i was expecting the aluminum to be like the ones found in the M3 & M5, which is slightly darker & more matte. the aluminum is actually shiny. it caused a little bit of problem during daytime driving because it glares. also it got extremely hot so u can't rest arm on the upper door against the trim. i can live with that as well but just want to give u a heads up. my second choice would be the dark bamboo.

btw, did u leave out the Comfort Access on purpose? it's a must on mine.

That color combo looks ok with the aluminum. I still bet the dark bamboo will look even better. You're right, I have the black perforated seats so the dark bamboo works great with it. With that color combo, I would prefer carbon fiber dash instead of aluminum if you didn't want the dark bamboo.

Congrats! The 50i is a beast!

I was on the fence about the premium sound, but in the end I wanted the iPod adaptor and just said what the hell.

Thanks for the heads up on the Aluminum ... I have a hexagonal aluminum trim on my M3 and really like it ...

The X6's aluminum is different, I saw it at the dealership, but like yourself, I think it's my best option.

I did leave comfort access out on purpose ... mostly out of principle ... I can't believe they want $1000 for it on an X6 but only $500 on a 3 series ... it just seems so ridiculous.

I wish the flywheel trim or some type of carbon trim was available in the US! If you are not too much of a wood person, like myself, the only other option is Aluminum.

Agreed on the CA...

My 35i had it and frankly, I liked it a lot. But that car was already on the lot. I would have a hard time checking that option box @ $1k+.

My Monaco Blue 35i had saddle with Bamboo and I liked it a lot. Sporty and elegant at the same time..Here are a few pix:

I understand that this is a very personal choice and you got to go with what YOU want..

Your Monaco Blue 35i was beautiful. I really liked your interior combo and your pictures really helped me settle on Saddle Brown (vs. Chateau). But like you said, I think for me, the Aluminum would be best ... I do wish there was another non-wood option in the US though ...

I ended up changing my trim choice from Aluminum to Dark Bamboo! After looking at what seems like 100's of pictures (of X6's and X5's) I agree that the Bamboo matches the Saddle Brown leather very well!

My Performance Center Delivery is set for Aug. 5th ... I can't wait!

Thanks for all the help guys

Great Choice!

I have the Saddle with Dark Bamboo and love it. I think you'll like the combo, see the pic below. One thing I noticed on the dealer demo was that the aluminum was nicked in several locations. Maybe it is more fragile.

Post pics when you get yours delivered.

Thanks! I think your pictures accurately reflect the color of the leather ... it looks great!

I have also heard the the aluminum trim is easily damaged ... my M3's aluminum trim on the drivers door has a few nicks where the metal part of the seatbelt has hit it. I am glad to hear that the Bamboo is more durable ... especially since it will be my daily driver.

I'll be sure to post pics when I pick it up next month! I hope I can hold out until then ...

I hated wood trim too, but it works for the X6.....In an elegant and not stale, old world way..

I completely agree ... I think the actual design/layout of the trim is modern. I also think the darkness and the grain of the Bamboo helps as well.

Hi there I currently own a 2010 X6 35i and I was just wondering why would you get a spare tire as the vehicle has run flats also if you don't get the spare it gives you extra room under the trunk

For $150, I ordered it just incase ... If you are on a road trip or 100+ miles away from home, I would rather have the security of knowing I do not have to rely on a run-flat.
