Time for tires 20"

Need to get a set of 20" staggered. Can't believe that these Bridgestone's only lasted a year.

Any better run flat out there now?

Anyone buy the spare kit and convert to Conti's?

Thanks in advance.

Just a thought!

Consider switching from RFT to non RFT. I'm currently shopping around and found Falken 453 for $800 for all 4.

RFTs are just heavy. Especially the Dualers that came from factory. I'm sitting at 30k miles and recently swapped. I had Pirelli Scorpio Verdes during summer but recently took them off for winter and they feel so much better and grips so much better than RFTs.

I just put Conti dws 06 non rft's on my 50i about a month ago... the truck rides and handles much better than the dueller hp(cement blocks)

Ride is quieter and firmer, grip provides a lot of confidence. Won't go back to RFTs, even though winter carving edge are a nice experience, they're noisy and heavy.

Thanks all. I will take a look at the spare kit and conversation.

What spare tire kit did you use for the 20" ?

I run FALKEN Azenis FK453CC (non-run flat) and I really love them. Good quality and price!

That is not normal. Something is amiss here...alignment, roads, how you drive, etc. I've had 2 sets and they've gone way beyond 10K miles.

Glad I'm not the only one who only got about a year on his 20s! I bought mine used on M wheels, but the tires had lots of tread when I got them, PO said about 5k miles. I've put 12k on them since I got them and the treads on the rears are mostly gone now. The fronts are OK, though. Apparently I'm too heavy on the throttle through turns and off stoplights, I guess. Anyway, if I don't trade this car in, first, I'll be getting non-RFT for my next set for sure.

Definite need alignment but I don it drive too spirited to justify the wear.

UglyBuzzard,

I wouldn't rule out the Bridgestones RFT. I don't know about BMW dealer near you but mine, in CT, claims to be selling tires at cost.

When I got my last set of tires two years ago, I got an alignment done -- I cannot the difference that that made. So much smoother and quieter and continues to be that way.

My X5 has staggered 20's too. Just today I ordered a set of Contis Extremecontact DW and also got the Conti Comfort Kit. All for $1,100 shipped.
First time I switch to NRF, so I willbe reporting back after a few miles!

I've ran these tires on several different vehicles and have always been very happy. They're probably one of the all around best tires you can get according to many reviews (including tire rack). They have good dry grip, Good wet grip, decent snow grip, good ride comfort and ride news.

Regarding run flats... Take them off and never look back. The impact they have on the day to day of driving is not worth the impact they could have if your tire goes flat... and in some cases they cost more for the feature than they save on a tow truck. (if you're in to doing that vs. changing the tire to a spare).

I completely agree.
My e92 M3 came with non-runflats, and the owners manual is very specific in that unlike the regular e92 3 series which do come with runflats, the M3 does not for improved handling.
Can't wait to get the new contis on the X5. The Conticomfort Kit is just additional peace of mind for simple flat repairs on the go!
