Might be of help in negotiating a trade in value.

Apparently BMW is giving dealers $500 per month for traded in X5's that have the airbag recall. I wish I had known that before I negotiated my trade value. Estimated time for the replacement air bags is 8 months.

So its their mistake and they charge us. Nice. Soon I will leave BMW if treatment towards owners doesn't get better.

No, I don't see it that way. I see it as being able to get more money for your trade because you know your dealer is going to have to sit on the car until the airbag gets replaced. Which in the US is estimated at 8 months. If you know this going in you can negotiate a better trade allowance.
