BEWARE!!!! NYC Wheel Theft In High Demand!!!!

People,
beware next time you visit NYC in your X6 with the following wheel types:

  • 21' 215 Black/Ferric Grey
  • 20' BMW STYLE 336
  • 21' BMW Performance Sport Wheels

Think twice where you street park next time because the wheel types above are in high demand and everyone wants to get them. Even if it means to pay someone to steal them.

My friend just sent me some pictures of his 2011 X6 5.0i incident without wheels/tires. The damage left him $9,000.00 broke because the wood where they left his X6 damage the undercarriage and rotors.

He had the Style 336 20inch stolen 20' BMW wheels. This happened back in August 2010 and has insisted me to use at-least 3 WHEEL LOCK to make it harder for the bandits to steal your wheels set.

Currently i have the 21' Ferric Gray with 2 wheel locks and i plan to buy an extra 1 tomorrow.

What do you guys think? Does having an extra wheel lock help?

Thanks,
Alex

same happened to me in September 2009, if I would have taken the picture, it would have looked the same...I didn't have any wheel locks. I'm just glad my insurance agreed to pay for the brand new wheel and tires, I heard some pay for used tires and used wheels only.

According to the cops, wheel locks help, because the way these thiefs usually operate is they put bricks under the car and then let the air out so that the car sits on the bricks and they don't need to jack it up which takes time. They are in and out very quickly so probably wouldn't want to deal with the locks. At the same time, I think if they wanted to steal your wheels, they would get around wheel locks no problem.
