Getting a spare key/fob

Dealer quoted me around $350 for a new key, plus an additional $150 to have comfort access programmed.

Is this my best option?

I've read so many different opinions about buying blanked keys vs virgin keys- some dealers will program, some won't.

If anyone can shed some light I'd appreciate it.

My E70 fob was under $200 out the door at the dealer but not comfort access.

Thanks

I got mine from Eric at Devon or Brian from Sun could help too, BUT...

I believe they need your drivers license and/or registration to order you a key for security purposes - not sure how that works if not physically present.

The programming charge they quoted you is bullshit the key comes preloaded with everything from BMW. You just insert and start car to sync.

Again for comfort access things maybe different but I did this all just a few weeks ago

Devon BMW CA Key price is $360 (FOB+Valet key +Tax) $60 lower from 2-3 local dealers that I called. Programming however is another $150 unless you all have a place where it can be done remotely
