My '08 X5 3.0d project has started ..

Hey all

Well I just started doing some work to my X5. At the moment, just colour coded front and rear bumpers, wheel arches, door moldings. There are a couple of stuff ups as I wasn't there when it was being painted and although I left specific instructions it didn't quite happen as I wanted. Also have H&R 30mm spacers all round. Am going to do a lot more including lowering, exhaust, front grille blackened, powder coat wheels matt black, tint back lights and more as I think of it

Will put up shots as the project continues. Also note I left my PDC sensors black. Gave it a try and liked it. Not sure its to everyones taste.

Cheers

Black Front now !!

Not a big mod but I decided to paint the stuff up from the Body Shop myself so got all the necessary bits and pieces and some satin black paint over the weekend and did it.

I also installed the black kidney grills. Waiting on springs now

what black colored trim do you have on your ride still? the window shadowline trim? if so match it with that finish, if it's matte black follow it and match up all black trim to it... otherwise looks good

Nice mod!

Can you post some picture from behind and front while pointing at the rims and fenders. Because I got a 20" 214 like yours but thinking about to add 15mm spacer in rear. If I can take a look some picture how much is stick out from the fender? You have 30mm all around right? How's the drive after you add it?
Is the rear camber (negative) setting increase a lot after you add 30mm spacer?

Thanks.

Is this what you're after. I know 30mm is a bit excessive, but what can I say, Im an excessive guy !!

I like that fat look !! As for the drive I think its better but then again Im probably biased. Haven't checked rear camber yet. Lowering soon and having it all done when that happens.

Cheers

I actually mocked it up on Photoshop and don't like it. It looks like there is a piece missing when you spray those pieces flat black so its staying how it is

Really nice! Look wide and wild

Can you use the stock lug bolt or need to buy a new set? What size I need for lug bolt?

Post some more picture if you have more. Really nice!

Actually the reason I bought the H&R 30mm set is because it comes with bolts that bolt the spacer to the hub and you use your standard bolts to bolt the wheels to the spacers. Easy job. Took 20 minutes

Dropped with H&R 50435 Springs

Guys

Just a quick update. Dropped the X5 with H&R 50435 springs and tinted the windows a little darker. I don't think I'm going to do much else except tint the tail lights. I'm happy with the ride this low and it seems to hold corners a lot better.

Im going to take some glamor shots when the car is clean and I find a nice background.

Cheers Kman

Here is Aus I ordered it with the Sports package which included the Arches. There's a dude on eBay who does them at a good rate. He's a BMW dealer in the US somewhere. I think he is called Sterling BMW or something like that.

Is that Moonstone? Whatever it is, love the color and the painted trim. Makes it look completely different.

Painted my Wheels Matt(ish) Black

Hey Guys

Got bored with the wheels (and hit a few gutters) so I thought, lets give them a little facelift .. I also figured there wasn't enough contrast between the body and wheels after I colour coded the wheel arches. I had the guys match the black as close as possible to the racks.

@GrFa - It's Moonstone (Good Guess)

@vladberca & Fe9L - Cheers guys. I'm very happy with it now I'v finished my little mods ..

I'm going to remove the badge on the side and I also have a steering wheel with paddles that Im going to try and get going if I can. Knowing BMW, I will need modules, harness's etc but lets see.

Cheers for now - Kman

Looks awesome...how long have you had the bumpers painted to match the car, did you have any problems with the paint chipping? I want to get mine painted but heard stories that I would regret it.

6 months now and not 1 issue at this stage. Iv heard all the stories 2 but couldn't live with the standard BMW color combo so bit the bullet and did it. We did paint the mesh grills and close up the paint is peeling. I was told not to, but thought I would give it a go. I am going to order black mesh from eBay to replace them.

Fingers Crossed
