ordered an X5 Sport!

I received a Pri 1 production number, so I am expected to take delivery end of August!

I had just ordered a 2011 x5 35d but I pushed my production to the first week of September. You should consider pushing the production as well since BMW is making iDrive updates to incorporate enhanced ipod functionality, bluetooth music synching, and email connectivity.

eh, i saw that. even though i love gadgets (apple fanboy) nothing excited me enough to postpone production by a month.

• mobile office - i have an iphone, so no joy for me
• bluetooth streaming - i use a dedicated ipod connected for my tunes
• album art - no new functionality here, just looks nice in the display
• ipod usb cable - this just saves BMW money, i rather use one of their cables than sacrafice my ipod cable.

Anyone know if a software update will allow this functionality? I just took delivery of my X5, and now I wish I had waited. I had thought that all models were going to get that option...

This is the million dollar question. I considered delaying delivery of mine for this, but it would have meant sacrificing the Ultimate Drive $1,000 credit and as much of a tech junky as I am, these things aren't worth $1,000 cash to me.

Will cross my fingers for a SW update from the dealer towards the end of the year.

come on, the update is nothing great. BT streaming is cool, but nothing blows my doors off? trust me, you are not missing much. now if it was a major SW update that couldn't be purchased/flashed after the fact then i would feel your pain.


i heard there is a hardware change in this update (more storage, 12GB?) so this may only be for the new hardware?

I hope with the new updates they also put on the new LED Corono Ring headlights that are on the european version.

The article only states the changes in Z4 & M3 for the integration of bluetooth & ipod streaming. Nothing on X5 for the new change. The sales rep at my dealer said pairing bluetooth and streaming is not a problem.
