Thanks for the feedback. Took a risk with the satin brushed. My favorite part is that it does not scratch like gloss clear does. Still though I'm already thinking of maybe getting a different finish soon. This is my second non glossy wheel set that I've had and I think I really miss the shine. Live and learn I suppose...

Well there, I suppose I will be the first to call dibs on this set. I like it a lot, and it will be going on a fellow MCB X5M if I end up with it

I went with the refreshed design Solo V from Velos. I'll make a new thread in a few days and post some pics. It's rained every single day since I had them installed last week...

Don't plan on selling these. Love the design just maybe thinking of a different finish that's all. If that changes though I'll let you know.

Mod Update:

As you guys know I've been sporting yellow angel eyes for awhile now. Decided to go back to a pure white look so picked up some Lux V5's. I have them set at 5700k and they are easily the best ones I've had. I tried two previous led setups before switching to the yellows. Imo now that the V5's are here don't even bother with anything else if you are after the led angel eye look. These things are bright!

Also decided to get rid of the chrome again so put the black side markers back in and ordered a fresh set of kidneys from IND. Took a risk with these ones this time and did gloss black surrounds with gloss black slats and the mstripes. Nice thing about IND's version is it's just the tip of the slats, not the whole things. Paint work is exceptional as always.

Here are some bad pics. I have a proper photoshoot scheduled for the 8th so good pics soon. Though the car won't look exactly like it does right now...

Looking good as always!

I know it's super expensive, but have you ever thought of doing the full OEM LED conversion? I'm referring to the optional full LED lights on the 2013 X5M.

Yeah I think about it a lot actually lol. If I end up doing it, it will be the final mod so to speak. Would send them off to oneeighty too for added craziness. Just the lack of a local coder here and the price is holding me back at the moment.

Thanks!

Yeah I'm really surprised myself that there are not too many v5 pics yet. They are super bright and color adjustable. It's like a win win as far as angel eye bulb replacements are concerned.

I recently got rid of an e70 and f30 for another e70. 2012 X5 M with only 4,300 miles and every option except rear entertainment. I was going new, but this one came into the dealer and could not ignore it. The wife hates driving and with the girls getting into a school 5 minutes from our work, two vehicles were no longer needed. So I did what any sane man would do. Why pay for two normal bmw's when you can pay less for one insane vehicle. My kids will never be late for anything. Below are the specs and dealer photos from the ad.

Monte Carlo Blue Metallic
Full perforated Silverstone with carbon leather trim
Active ventilated Seat Package
Cold Weather Package - lol being in Hawaii
Driver Assistance Package
Premium Sound Package
Rear Climate Package
Comfort Access
Soft close doors
High gloss roof rails
Leather dashboard and center console
Side view camera
BMW apps

As for mods on this beast I have everything planned out. The fact that there isn't too many options mod wise on this car makes it easier. So far I already have the wheels on order from my sponsor Morr, and lighting upgrades on their way.

I will be constantly updating this thread as parts arrive and the build begins.

Looks amazing! Love the interior combination! Well done.

Mod Update

Powerflex Black Thrust Arm Bushings and revised suspension settings

If you guys read my mod list for my old M3 you know I value suspension above all. I had every bushing replaced with either group n rubber or polyurethane. I love precise feeling suspension and I was hoping that could be achieved with the X5M to some degree. Part of what makes these sav's so crazy is the fact that they can turn better than most cars. Anything that furthers this concept is worth exploring so when my front thrust arm bushings started to go I began exploring aftermarket solutions.

What I found made me extremely excited. No more than 4 months ago Powerflex finally came out with a selection of bushings for the e70 platform. They offer thrust arm and swaybar bushings as well as subframe limiters and rear camber bolts.

As such I went with their thrust arm bushings. They offer them in two types of stiffness; street and race. Since I'm weird I went race. Figured might as well go all out and just change them out later if they were too much for me. The black (race) versions are said to be 295% stiffer than the oem bushings and they definietly feel like it.

Link to their press release:

http://www.powerflex.co.uk/blog/bmw-x5-e70-and-x6-e71

They really transformed the ride for the better. It's firm, but not harsh if that makes sense. I can now feel everything and the suspension movement is much more controlled now. Like there is no more give in the front. Acceleration and braking are crisper in feeling and high speed stability has a more solid feeling.

NVH (noise vibration harshness) wise, there is no increase in noise yet, no vibration increase, and of course there is more harshness. However I don't mind harshness whatsoever so it's not a problem to me. Due notice I'm saying harshness not compliance. The suspension still moves in it's full range of motion; it's just when hitting irregularities in the road it feels more solid now, not as soft and cushioning. Their street version will definietly be more soft in feeling, but I was after precision not comfort. Plus I used my own weird logic that if these were designed for the e70 chassis in general then the street version might only be as stiff as the M version and I wanted to improve the precision and not move laterally.

Here is a link to their UK site that has a deflection chart for the three types of bushings: oem, street, race: http://www.powerflex.co.uk/road-seri...ush/11462.html

After the success I've had with these bushings I'm definietly going to get the swaybar bushings next. Probably this summer some time. Regarding installation tips, make sure you purchase new ball joint and bushing nuts as they are one time use only. Don't have any install pics as I had my girls with me so I didn't hang around the shop.

Packaging:

The bushings . They are a two piece design so the only hard part of the install is going to be pressing out the oem bushings:

New nuts and torque specs straight from the dealer:

My shot oem bushings:

Regarding new suspension settings I moved the compression softer a click all around (compression is now a full circle off fully closed) and the rear rebound stiffer a click. Kept the front rebound the same. Had the alignment set at -2 camber all around with -.04 toe on each front corner and -.08 toe on each rear corner. Give it a try as it made the ride much more compliant. I made these changes since I'm mostly highway driving now.
