whirring noise behind the glove box
I'm getting this whirring noise behind the glove box that is audible regardless of whether or not the a/c system is on. I figured it was a bunk nav system hard drive but when I brought it in to the dealership today they said the hard drive is located in the center console. Mechanic said it's got to be something involved with the climate control? Do any of you notice this whirring sound in your X5 5.0i? It doesn't come on until a few minutes after I turn the car on.

Is your vehicle a X5? as your sig says you drive Z4?

Ditched the m coupe. Now in an x5 5.0i with 953 miles on it
 . Bought for 56k. )

I figured it was the HDD but the tech said that was located underneath the stereo. Thing is, once it comes on, it doesn't shut off. It sounds kind of like a muted dust buster if you know what that is. I am still somewhat convinced it is the HDD until proven otherwise. I wonder if I could have them put an SSD hard drive in there instead. I left it with them for the weekend to figure out.
