Anyone ever add a performance chip in their X5 (e70).
G force advertises on their site an increase of 4-7 mpg and up 60 horsepower... Please advise. |

I have an ESS chip on my x35d and definitely has a very noticable difference in torque. I just had to take it out when I brought it in to the dealership for service. I think the website also claims an added 50-60 in horsepower. I don't ever see myself driving the X5 without the chip!

I installed a ChipExpress box on my 35D and it is amazing.... The box and fittings are high quality and very easy to fit, it only took less than a minute to disconnect common rail connectors and fit the box inline. The box has switches on it and they can be adjusted for torque/power/economy as desired. The unit is TUV and CE approved, which are basically the European authorities.
I have them set as recommended for 300HP and 500ft/lbs, which on a freeway run gives 31mpg or 26 ish mixed. Very happy and I have NO connection with the company. |

I'm leaning towards the Dinan variant for this reason.

I have a JBD on my 2011 X5d and love the power difference. Can't really say that it gives me better fuel economy though. I average 21 mpg either way.

I have the JB4 installed in my 2009 X6 35i (N54) and I have been happy with the added power. It took about 15 mins to install and I know I should have, but I have never taken it out. I have been to the dealership a few times for regular scheduled maintenance service, and the warranty has not been voided ... yet.
It could be that I just happen to have a mod friendly dealership, but I have not run into warrany issues sice I had the JB4 chip installed over 2 years ago. I do agree with other posts on this thread about the Dinan warranty versus the no Warranty concerning the JB4. I took the risk, and if you are willing to do the same, the increase in power is definitely noticable. You can always remove the JB4 before you take your car in for service if you decide on getting it over the Dinan. I started a thread about my experience with the JB4 on the general Talk sectoin of this forum back when I had it installed. If you want more information on it, you could always do a search there. Either way, good luck!
