Engine drive belts replacement cost?
Hello guys,
I have a 2012 Bmw x6 50i. I didnt get any responses from the X6 forum so I figured that I should try it here. I need to replace both of my Engine drive belts and BMW is charging $572 total. $127 for part and $405 for labor. I thought changing drive belts doesnt take long to do it or its because the n63 engine is so crowded and they need to drop the engine to do it? Any information will be appreciated. Thank you! |

I think that's a bit high. Assuming you are talking about the serpentine belt and the AC belt. I was just quoted 3.5 hours to replace both belts and the tensioner. Parts not included.

Yea not sure with the v8 but I just replaced mine in about 20 minutes on the v6, if it's anything like the v6 and you need extra room you may just have to remove the radiator fan, just replaced my harmonic balancer in about an hour with removing the fan, two clips and it just pulled out.
Again sorry I couldn't comment on the V8 but what I can comment on is the dealer will always charge book cost even if it only takes them half the time. They quoted me over 8 hrs to change my transfer case and I did it in less than 5 with no prior experience in changing one, that also included taking a break for lunch. So I'd really just open your hood and investigate. |
