I got a call and e-mail from my dealership today. The replacement part arrived today. I'm scheduled to drop it off Monday morning to have the recall performed. Call BMW NA, folks!

Which dealer are you getting the air bags from? I need to have both x5's done

BMW of Manhattan - convenient for me to drop it off in the morning and head to work downtown. When you call BMW NA - they'll ask which dealer you want the airbag to be sent so you can pick one that's good for you.

Just request a Loner until you get the air bag recall replacement done. Getting a Loner seems to speed things up.

Called BMW NA yesterday, expressed my frustration for the long wait. BMW NA said they would try to escalate my request. Today, received a call from dealer that my airbag has arrived. Will be installed tomorrow. Shocked by the 1 day turnaround.

Getting mine replaced tomorrow. I had my X5M in for other service items. I called back a couple days later and told them to keep it until they replaced the airbag. Indeed I parts magically appear when it will start to cost the dealer.

Stopped by the dealership in SLC, UT to pick up some wiper blades. Decided to talk with a Service Advisor regarding the airbag recall. They have the parts and I scheduled an appointment. Just frustrated that they are going by the concept that "the squeaky wheel gets the grease". But, good to get it done.

Apparently there are different recalls based on your year and model also. My wife's 2008 X5 3.0si had the recall short fix completed where they replaced the inflator only and said that the complete fix is unavailable. My X5M had the whole airbag replaced as the complete fix. My wife's still shows up as having an open recall but the X5M does not.
