Awesome man. Glad to hear it!
I take this to be pretty positive news. The value of the ///M's has seemingly gone down substantially in the past year, I suggest based on many people's fears of issues such as this. If the fix is as simple as suggested, and we now have two cases of it, the "mystery" starts to fade away and confidence comes back. |

The simple pleasures of driving around and it NOT kicking an error makes ownership that much nicer. If this stays away for at least a week, I'll reflash back to a stock tune and be rescheduling dyno time and finish what I started over a year ago.

Welllll... Yesterday on the way to my family for Christmas Dinner... The X5 went into Reduced Power Mode again... Sigh... I think it may be a different issue than before though with my waste gate actuator...
This time I had some pretty bad misfiring later confirmed by my code reader. I had to get it towed to my dealer. They had it all day today and I haven't heard anything yet although they were on their Christmas staffing which was really low today. I hope I hear something tomorrow. Will keep updating this when I find out more information.

Waiting for the last test drive by the dealership this morning... Apparently the MAF Sensor had an air leak. They re-secured it and no codes since. How a MAF sensor becomes loose is beyond me. We'll see if that is truly that cause.
Unrelated note - They told me my Oil Filter Housing Gasket was leaking - I'll be replacing that as a DIY in the next month or two. The dealership wanted $781 to do that!!!!! its a $20 gasket set max! And also I may need coils soon - I'm at 75k Miles

The S63 doesn't have a MAF sensor from what I've seen though. The N63 and S63TU do though as BMW put it on the charge pipes, but the S63 has got that electronic blow off valves on ours right there. I've even searched realoem and couldn't find them as I thought that was a little strange.
Edit - I re-read the thread from the beginning and forgot you've got an N63. Well hopefully that solved your issue :-) Edit again - what's telling you/them that you need new coils? Last edited by m5james; 12-29-2016 at 12:14 PM.. |

They told me that there was a few coil misfires stored in the codes... whether it was from the air leak or something different, I'm not sure.

Haha I know! When I was talking to the Service Adviser I was going through a tunnel and I swore he said $781, and I asked him again and he was like Yes 781 Dollars. I did a quick search and sure enough its 2 gaskets which cost under $20 and a a bunch of Labor. I don't mind going to the dealership for convenience and all but its crazy when you have to pay them $760 for labor! I found both gaskets and an Synthetic Oil Change kit from ECSTuning for like $110!
