New X6 40d help!

Hi gang,

I've just found this very interesting forum about the X6 with lots of knowledgeable people so I thought you guys might be able to help me out.

I have just ordered an X6 40d in Alpine White due to be delivered to the UK next month! I am so very excited but I was wondering if anyone could give me some help.

I've added dealer fit square exhausts as I'm not a fan of the small round standard ones but I however could not find any information about the Angel lights! Whilst I was in Paris for the weekend I saw a brand new 5 Seres GT and it had STUNNING Zenon Angel light rings. I desperately want these on the X6 and not the yellow ones!! Unfortunately the dealer didn't seem to know anything about them so I am at a loss.

If anyone could help i'd really appreciate it!

Many Thanks

Amy

P.S Does anyone know if the lights are different (front and rear) on the 40d from the 35d? I know the 40d is the replacement for the 35d, just wondering if it was any different.

Thanks again.

Wow. I am such a copy cat. First I purchased those Euro White side markers after seeing your pics. Now I just added these to the cart as well. Thanks for all the links Scott. haha It's funny cause I also have Space Grey. Only sad thing is I did not put my order in fast enough for leather dash. Boo.

Keep up the good work, let me know your next mod so I can copy that too.

BTW what tint level are you going with? Do you install tint on top of Privacy Glass?

Welcome to the forums. I am also fairly new here but these are some of the most helpful people I have met on the internet. Congrats on your new 40d. Don't forget to update us with some pics when you get it. Looking at X6's never gets old...

Hi. From this it seems like you just ordered your car and it will be delivered next month? That is a 2 month period from order to delivery?! Is that even possible?

is this correct?

is it LHD or RHD?

4 weeks is very tight but in 5 weeks It should be just about do-able!

A lot of dealers place unsold orders in safe easy to sell specifications. BMW allow spec changes until approx 1 week before build so if a customer comes along the spec can be changed up to a week before build date.

Time from build to delivery in the UK (Bearing in mind all X6s are built in Spartanburg South Carolina) based on my experiences should is about 5 weeks:

Build and delivery to Charleston SC - 7 Days
Transatlantic Voyage to Charleston to Bremerhaven - 14 Days
Delivery to UK BMW VDC (Via Either Immingham or Southampton) - 7days
Vehicle Checks and VDC & Delivery to Dealer and Dealer Preparation - 7 Days

So I reckon 5 weeks as a rough guide however much depends on the Transatlantic shipping dates and vessel routing.

Roll on Friday !

Very nice! What are they doing between tomorrow and the weekend to the car?

Did you post the specs to your car on an earlier post? Whats the link? just curious.

Also, are u going to take pics at the BMW dealer? it would be nice to see it in its environment there.

Yes thats right, i'm not sure on the technical terms but the dealer had a slot reserved that was coming up the week we ordered so we took that over with our car. I was lead to believe that BMW are not building any new X6 40d's until September for the UK so if we ordered from new without finding a dealer slot we would have to wait 4 months!

Its due middle of June and we ordered 1st week of May so that will be about 5 weeks I guess, we haven't got a delivery date as yet.

We have been told that she's built and sprayed already!!

Hi,

Just had a call from the dealer and the car is here!

I would imagine the dealer will have to carry out safety and quality control checks, clean and prepare the vehicle, Register the Vehicle and Transfer my Private plates etc.
This will probably take a couple of days.

I am going over to the dealership tomorrow to have a look at her. Hope the weather will improved for the weekend!

Anyway here Is my Spec for those that missed it previously:

Here is my Spec

Vehicle
FH02 E71 X6 xDrive40d N57 3.0

NASW Black Exclusive Nappa leather

Yes, Vey black.
It will be fun to keep clean!

I was not brave enough to go for a bright coloured leather plus I wanted the soft Nappa leather which really restricts colour choice to Black and Beige ( If you stay away from Individual leather). Not keen on beige ( but each to thir own - Colour is a very personal thing especially on the inside of the car).

I could have been tempted with oyster but it was not available in Nappa.

I think the black leather looks great with the brushed aluminium trim as the Silver metal in the trim breaks up the black very nicely.

Off to the dealer now - will take some pics.

Adaptive fixing is just a flexible luggage storage system to stop item rolling around in the back.

we should organize a drag race later with a X35d and X40d to see the difference. Also check differences in fuel consumption.

Got one arranged already! A mate has the 35d same sort of spec as my 40d Going to drive the 40d really economically for a week before we meet up just to make the fuel consumption look amazing on the 40d lol
