When did you ordered it, and when did you get it? Or wait for. .
I talked to one dealer in Germany (he is not a BMW Partner dealer) and he said he can get one for me in three weeks. . I talked today to a major BMW Partner dealer near Munchen and they told me that if I order now, I'll get in late December. . WTF. .so who is telling the truth?!!?
So what where your delivery dates for you? Or still are. . since ordering. |

Far as I know, the X6 is made in South Carolina USA only, therefore you have approx. 10 days for transport upon completion here. Completion is also determined by allocation and schedules. Dealers are given allocation, meaning they have so many vehicles they can spec to order. Depending on when they spec their allocation, they get a production date (for example, your dealer may spec a car today which schedules for production the week of July 20). Depending on each individual dealer's used allocation, one may be able to get a car to you faster than the other. For example, I ordered by spec a 335 and an X6 this year. The 335 came in 7 weeks from Germany (including transport and production). My x6, apparently the fastest ever, came in 2 weeks from South Carolina to New Jersey (including production and shipping). I just got lucky with the X6 and was able to grab the last vehicle allocation for the production week and transport was only a day or two. Love them both by the way.

You where lucky. . .but why should I wait 6 months for the X6 35d ??!? I cannot believe all 2008 production is already sold out, as the president of BMW declared in an interview.

That doesn't sound right because my X6 50i is scheduled for production on week 30 which is July 20th and my dealer said I will have the vehicle by the end of July. Dealer told me it will take them 3 days to build car and 6-7 days to transport from South Carolina to Dallas. Are you in CA or out of country?

Can somebody tell me why I have to wait six months, here in Europe???! I know you guys in the US are privileged, since u want petrol cars, and the factory is in Carolina. But I assume someone can answer my question. . Please don't start filling this thread with why someone there is waiting 2 weeks more than another, , we have to wait for many months here. .

I know your profile says Los Gatos and I know where you are at, as I lived in West LA for 5 years and commuted to San Fran some, but why would it take you until September (over a month after vehicle is built) to get the vehicle that will be built by August 1st? I only assumed that perhaps you were ordering the vehicle for an out of country residence.

Ok, my bad, you wait a lot less than we do, across the pond. . but still. .ok, should I understand that BMW is busier selling hard on the US market first, gas engines, so the production is filled with these orders, and after they are happy with the sales in the US, they will produce more diesels for folks around Europe?

looks like the RF issue is with the 20" wheels , if you go to bmw site (USA) and build your own, under the sports package the 19" come with "run flat all season" where the 20" wheels come with "mixed run flat performance"
After some investigation it looks like what bmw is calling "mixed" is what I have always know as staggered wheels (the front and the back have different tire sizes and can't be rotated"). The sad part is the guy at the dealer had no clue what "mixed" meant.

Sorry, dude, but 'mixed' does NOT mean all-season!
BMW refers to 'Mixed' when the two tires in the back have a different size than those on the front! If they are all season, than BMW refers to them as 'All-season'! For example: the 19" tires are all-season run-flat tires and are all the same on the front and the back. The 20" (style 259 and 214) are mixed summer run-flat performance tires. That means that the front are narrower than those on the back and that these are only recommended for summer driving. They are still run-flats though! Hope this clears it up for you
