Dinan tune for X5...Any problems with drive train failure and warranty?
Hi, I'm considering getting the stage 2 Dinan tune for my new 2013 X5 35i. Has anyone had any damage resulting from a Dinan tune? How was this issue resolved by Dinan or BMW if your vehicle was still under BMW standard or extended warranty? All the what ifs of getting a tune (even if covered by tuners warranty) is getting me worried. Thanks.

That's a new tune, so there's not much info out there. I'd expect that the power gains are well within what is safe. I have stage 1 on my 50i and it makes a ton of difference. Looking forward to that stage 5 with 560 hp when it is available!
To answer your question...I haven't heard of any failures but if one was to occur due to the software, it is supposed to be covered by Dinan's supplemental warranty.

I have new '12 xdrive 35 and am getting the Dinan tune in 2weeks from the dealer. I will post my pre vs post thoughts. Warranty from my dealer is absolutely NO worry. My dealer will replace ANY part without any questions asked!

Dinan works with BMW, so I would disclose it and leave it on at sale time. I had the tune done at the dealership, so it's not something that you need to hide.
