'13 X5 Xdrive 3.5i w/ M sport package wheel size question

I'm new to the world of BMW and even newer to the site. I've searched everything I can think of, but have yet to see my exact question... Forgive me if I'm wrong (not sure how this forum reacts to this type of thing, but from the emoticons to my right, I would say like most other forums. )

To the question...
I have a '13 X5 Xdrive 3.5i w/ M sport package with the 20" wheels. Tire sizes 275/40 R 20 front, 315/ 35 R 20 rear. Am I able to fit a 18" or 19" wheel and tire to the car for winter purposes? The look is second to me because as of right now, the car won't move or stop AT ALL! Finding myself manually down shifting to make sure I don't kill anyone!

Do I have any options other than a $1200 set of tires?

Yes, a lot of people run 19s or even 18s in the winter, as running summer tires in cold temps is downright scary since they pretty much turn to cement blocks in temps below 40 degrees.

If you're looking for a second set of wheels for Winter, I will shamelessly promote myself right now as I have a set of OEM 19s with all-season tires currently for sale. http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=939169 I ran these for about 1000 miles this winter, and they did really well in the snow.

Good luck!

My biggest concern is the size of my calipers (Not sure if they're bigger with the M Sport package)... From just a visual, they would both be cutting it REAL close.

I have an M sport as well, and have the OEM M Sport 19s (style 223m) I currently run with all-season tires.

I know the X5M guys run 19s in winter (http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=765202) and they have bigger calipers than us.

I'm not sure about 18s on the M Sport...that might be too small.

Ok, local Craigslist add guy claims the 18's with winter tires were used on a 2012 M sport package with OEM tire and wheel sizes being the same as mine... Can anyone confirm that a set of 18" Elbrus rims will fit my girl?

'13 M Sport with style 209 oem wheels and 255/55/18 Blizzak. H&R 25mm spacers on rear. Not the best, but better than a ditch!
