Electronic Front License Plate Bracket
Some states require a front mounted license plate, so instead of making wholes in your front bumper you have an option of getting a side mounted plate in place of the tow hook or you can get an auto flip out plate. Here is a video of one we recently put on a X5M

Certain states require a front mounted license plate. This way you will not have any holes in your front bumper, and you can drive around with nothing on the front bumper. When your parked, you can take the plate out in order not to receive a ticket.

Also, for any kind of ticket it makes sense to hide the rear plate; hiding the front one does nothing, except for potentially getting 'no front plate' ticket. |

clean, i like it. i hate the look of a front plate, spoils the beauty of the front end. i never run a front plate on my M3 and have only had a problem with the police once. but this option is the best of both worlds, you see a cop coming, bam, push a button and he has nothing to pull you over for.

I kind of like the look of tow plate mounts, and they're simpler. But if these only cost 60-100, it's about the same as the tow mount. Luckily they don't seem to enforce front plates a lot in OC

Manual $41 Electric $129 I was off by $29 for the electric kit, but the manual kit is significantly cheaper. I had these on all my cars since I don't like to drill holes directly into the bumper. |

I know if you get pulled over for speeding or some other obvious offense they'll get you for front plates and tint and other dumb crap

I was convinced he nailed me speeding, but just wrote a fix-it for front plate. You may be right. My neighbor is a cop; signed ticket & $20 later, ticket resolved. |

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I'm interested in this idea.
I checked my front bumper where the plate was installed in the video, and there's no way that there's enough space to stow a plate there. Was cutting of the mesh required for fitment, or am I missing something? |

I see people just throwing their plates on the dashboard. No drilling in your bumper (but really, who cares about two little holes), no installing of these flip up mechanisms (you are still drilling holes or cutting mesh grilles somewhere) and it's free.

Everyone does it for different reasons. For me, I want a cleaner look for car meets and car photography. Putting it on my dash is illegal (and dangerous), and the ticket is more expensive than not having a plate at all.
