Just picked up a 2013 X5M
Saturday was not supposed to start this way. Have been humming and hawing on an order for a 2014 X5 diesel M sport heavily optioned. Went to one of the two dealers in town and tried a diesel in X line I believe and while I wasn't looking at it in terms of the suspension, the pull on it seemed a little different than the diesel in my 2012 X5. The engine did not impress as much. The other thing that really struck me looking at the new X5 is that it just does not look as wide, even with the sport package, whereas the older one looks like it is not only wider, but more athletic, almost as if squatted down and ready to pounce. Sales person seemed to suggest that that was not the case, but I haven't looked at the measurements between the two models.
Headed over to the other dealership to see if maybe I could try a 5.0i with M sport but they did not have any to try. Not sure if our friends to the south are having the same issues, but BMW slashed allocations for Canadian dealers because too many of the cars being sold were being exported to China. So, 2 month waits for new vehicles were now 5-6 months. I tried a Le Mans Blue X5 at the second dealer with 30K miles, and while it was nice, my wife kept calling me Papa Smurf, which kind of killed that idea. Then, the sales manager told me about this beautiful 2013 Carbon Black, loaded, in pristine shape, that had not been entered into their inventory. I signed it out for the weekend and am going to pick it up on Friday. It may turn into a long term vehicle, or one that is traded for the new X5M, but this car just feels more solid than the new one. I am starting to wonder if BMW is pushing a little too far in their quest to reduce unit costs on these vehicles to the point that the vehicles just do not provide the same sense of quality in their build and materials. At any rate, aside from the gas use, this X5M is a dream. Now time for an Eisenmann X5 Black Series exhaust and Dinan software. |

Much better deals on exhausts and tunes than you mentioned.
Talk to velos or eurocharged... both have had better results. Megan exhaust is $300-400 for the same note and performance as the Eisenmann exhaust.
