Just out of curiosity were you driving it hard or just normal?
They should be able to be driven either style but sometimes hard to tell where BMW engineering leaves off and marketing begins.

That sucks as I thought BMW solved the HPFP issue. First I have heard of the issue on an X6.

I've already had my high pressure fuel pump replaced. It only took a morning to get it done. I had to live with it broken for a weekend and I can tell you its no fun driving in reduced power mode.

Did u ask them what is the actual fault by the pump?? Is there a bad batch of pumps? Dirty gas?
What's your x6 production date?

I didn't ask many questions; I was just grateful to get my car fixed so quickly. I assumed it just wasn't delivering the needed pressure on demand - just as once happened in my old 300ZX. It certainly felt like that. Normal operation until it needs a lot more gas. In the 300ZX, nothing happened - less than normal acceleration but also no shutdown; in the BMW it went into low power mode with painfully limited acceleration.

My x6 was produced in early May 2008. You should check the forums for other BMW models using the same engine for more info - I recall seeing something on it there a while back.

BMW extended the warranty on the HPFP to 10 years/120k miles.

However is is only for 2007/2008, 135/335/535 models with N54 engine. X6 is not included.

If enough X6's have the issue, they will most likely be included as well.
