Upgrade from 2011 50i Sport to 2010 X5M?
Considering upgrading from my current 2011 X5 50i Sport with almost 13K miles to a 2010 X5M.
My Car Trade: 2011 X5 50i Sport -Purchased 7/2010 MSRP: 73,xxx Paid: 68,xxx Trade in Value: 59,800 Current Miles: 12,850 Potential New Purchase: 2010 X5M MSRP: 93,425 Black/Black Extended. Options: Cold weather, premium sound, roof rails, soft close doors, driver assistance, rear climate, comfort access. Selling price: 74,200 miles: <15K Thoughts: 1) Love the drive of the X5M. Power, suspension, etc. 2) 2010 does not have the revised tail lights. 3) A little over 2 years of warranty left for X5M 4) Nothing wrong at all with the 50i just love the power of the X5M 5) Car is DD into NYC Give it to me straight. |

I only have a 2011 x5d but would keep that over a year older model. I like the new features and the minor cosmetic changes that have been made. You can get more power by adding a programmer or having it coded. I just added a JBD and am absolutely amazed with the power difference. Just my opinion. Good luck.

Hmm, $74000k for 2010 X5M, think you can get better price than that more like around $70000, just need search around. Saw a 13k miles Internet price of $71k at CA few weeks ago.

Not around here I can't. Not an option to cross the country for a purchase with a trade. Options are limited cause all other dealers are offering 54K for my trade whereas this dealer is giving me almost 60K. Sure that means they have a few dollars in the M but I did a nationwide search on Autotrader and 74K for a low mileage 2010 is a very fair price. Are there others for lower, absolutely, however I need to do deal local due to trade. I have worked the dealer for 2 weeks now and I believe I am at the bottom they will sell me with car with my trade.

Believe me when I say have called almost a dozen dealers around here and they are firm on the price. I have been working this dealer for over 2 weeks. Keep in mind the trade is signifincantly hgher than all others. No point paying 70K for the car if my trade is 54k. Math doesn't make sense even thought the purchase price is better. I will take another run at them. Last edited by Michael_s; 09-09-2011 at 05:18 AM.. |

Thanks for all the feedback. I made a deal with the selling dealer that I could borrow the truck for the day yesterday to make sure I wanted the car. Was going to drive to the gym, take my wife for lunch, take a cruise and return the car in the afternoon. However, when I got there and walked about the car, I noticed the tailgate would not shut all the way. It opens and closes with the button, but when the soft close part takes over it pulls in but leaves an 1/8-1/4 gap which is clearly not correct. They told me they already fixed it once so this leaves me to believe there might be more to the problem. So I left without the car. Probably going to pass on this car. Don't want a car with problems. My 50i has been a pleasure to own so far.

Keep the car you bought new and know where it has been and how it is treated. So many folks drive M cars like they were a carnival ride... You can assume it has been beat on.
Also, once out of warranty, you really don't want to be paying out of pocket to keep an M on the road. |
