I'm a Finance Director for a dealership in MN and we use Resource which lots of Dealers and Credit Unions use and they don't have any limits to repair cost. I did a 5 year 100,000 Platinum plan which covers everything with the exception of normal wear items like brake pads and rotors and I paid under $3,000 due to being able to get it at cost with no mark up otherwise it would of been at least $3,000 or more.

Probably a stupid question.
When you guys say 3year 100k miles, thats 3 years from purchase date and 100k on ODO or 100k miles in addition to current mileage? (33k miles/year)? Looking at one with around 75k miles... Thanks Matt |

I showed my example couple posts above, my Extended warranty is from May 10, 2016 thru May 10, 2019, my factory warranty expired on May 10, 2016 I'm currently at 45.8K miles so in my case I thought I still have 50+k miles to go and it made sense in my case. I would suggest to look for other cheaper versions of warranties in your case. I assuming you at 75k miles and not looking for warranty up to 75k miles, in that case this is different storty. |

There are 3 types of warranties u can get: 1. Powertrain Plus (which I got) - covers major elements, like engine, powertrain etc. 2. Gold (covers everything that Powertrain covers + more like disk brakes etc.) - the big down side to that, this warranty is about $2200 more and if you do you own breaks etc., there is no real reason to buy it. 3. Platinum (covers everything Powertrain Plus + Gold + electrical) this one will easily run you up to $8k - $9k, too much if you ask me. I looked for about 2 months before buying mine and couldn't find real good alternative. You might be able to find something better, it's often depends on your location. Good luck! |

FWIW I checked out USAA and their system shows coverage on X5M.
For 24 month 24k mile coverage with $0 deductible and what appears to be pretty comprehensive coverage, it was around $3200 if under 75k miles, and $4300 if over 75k miles. They also had 48month 100k odo plan for $7100 on a 45k mile vehicle. Surprisingly the quotes are the same for 335i or X5M or M5 or a 320i. Matt |

I called them Friday and this is the info I got:
BTW THESE PRICES WERE GIVEN IF YOUR CAR IS LESS THEN 50,000 miles if its more then 50,000 miles they wanted more money. Route 66 said i can only get it through a bank or credit union and it only covers drive train engine transmission ... with a max payout of $3k there was nothing else that can be offered. I didn't even call for a price to their sister company because $3k max payout wasn't good enough for me. easy care told me they can warranty me and I have to use GWC which is their sister company. exclsuinary coverage road side towing rental for 3 yrs or 38500 miles $100-deduct cost $5612 (this is their closest warranty to the BMW manufacturer) comprehensive all major sytems engine trans awd drive axel ac cooling to engine electrical system steering suspension sensors road side towing and rental $4995 $100deduct 3yrs power train + engine trans awd system axel ac master cylinder capilers radiator electrical power steering pump gear box suspension $100dedcut $4292 3 yrs 38500miles |

I did the BMW 7/160 km no deductible as well for peace of mind.
So far it works for me as I have had to use it for a new DEF tank and a new adaptive headlight assembly. I think it was a good $2100.00 investment that is still good till July 2018. |

Resource The Warranty Group is the largest 3rd party warranty company and have been great to deal with. We use them at the dealership I work at, I've sold tons of these to customers and also have one myself. The 3rd party warranties start at the date you buy the warranty so If you buy a warranty and your car already has 50k on it and you get a 75k warranty you get 75k on top of your 50k unless your term runs out first.

Have you tried contacting Jeff Steele from Passport BMW? When I was shopping for coverage for my car, he gave the best quote of anyone (BMW platinum 7/100 plan). I decided to with Route66 instead (longer coverage, nearly half the cost), but seeing that Rt66 is no longer an option, might be worthwhile shooting an email to Jeff. You can find his contact info easily on these forums.

Here's my scenario for my 2011 X5d:
CPO Extended Warranty ends July 2016. I currently have 79k and will probably average around 7-9k miles/yr. That means I'll only have a little over 2 years before I hit 100k. I'm mechanically inclined so a majority of repairs I can do myself however I'm playing with the idea of getting coverage for the drivetrain beyond the 100k. Any suggestions? |

So, I just chatted with a local BMW dealer here in Northern Virginia and below are the numbers they gave me. My X5M currently has 43250 miles on it.
Maintenance Warranty - Expires October 31 2016 1 year - 25K - $1700 2 year - 50K - $3495 3 year - 125K - $5022 Mechanical Warranty - Expires January 31 2017 2 year - 70K - $5352 2 year - 100K - $5990 3 year - 70K - $6100 3 year - 100K - $7430 I'm planning on keeping the vehicle till about January 2020. I'm averaging about 13000 miles per year. I guess I need coverage for another 3 years and 40000 miles. Any opinions? I haven't contact Jeff Steele...yet. |

Thanks. Was that just for Mechanical warranty? If so, for how many years and miles? Do you recommend the maintenance warranty?
I emailed Jeff Steel and waiting for a response. I want to see if I can get both but it's looking a bit on the high side ($$$). |
