Tuning stage 1 for de X5 3.5i, and leaking valve cover
Today I went to the tuner Mosselman turbo, for two reasons.
1. I was curios what the performance was after 200k km. 2. A tune and sind fine tune of the Engine. So car on the Dyno for analyzing, Did some runs and I was happy 311 Hp and 431 Nm. Then the tune, the did a run of 10 to fine tune the software on the car nice results. 344 Hp and 556 Nm. Also they did the Xhp software for the gearbox, so that it could gif a better handeling for the higher Torque. The say to me that the power in the high range could be a bit better, possible that the inlets are a bit dirty. ( I will check that when I replace the OFH seals) On my way home I could feel the different, more pull, and far better responsie from the gearbox, also less nervous when I push the gas pedal a bit. So Nice day it was for sure. Some pic’s, the chart old one top, tune bottom. Also a end of the day, my new OEM valve cover is still leaking (rear side at the end on the corner, and near the OFH, crap! A took it of and saw there was a crack in the cover at the front near the OFH. For Shure I had al the bolt with a torque wrench tigtend 8.5 Nm in the correct order as BMW wants. So a call to the dealer, they orderd a new one that I can pick up Tomorrow, I could happen that a part is broken. But I have no why it was dripping at the rear corner. I did a check on the back flat side with a camera there is compleet dry. |

It looks ok now, I was very extra careful bolting the cover.
I noticed when bolting in the correct order that the corner at the oilfilter housing had a lot of space between cover and head when I reached it bolting. So I took my time bolting it very slowly to the head. I got a feeling that the plastic cover is not quit flat but a little bit warped. For al the bolts I used an smal 1/4 rattle until it’s almost at the end of the tread, and a 1/4 torque wrench to get it on the Wright torque (8,5 Nm) For bolt 20 I used a 1/4 outside torx, one knee 1/4 and a 1/4 extender, the tip someone gave, to use 2 knees is not ok for torque the bolt because the knees will twist incorrect. |
