My E70 3.0sd

After driving various Audis for the last 10 years, we bought a BMW 1-series
as a wife-car. I loved it so much, that I started looking for a X5 for myself.
Since I live in Norway, and the car taxes are bizarro, I had to settle with a 2009-model, and ended up with the 3.0sd M-sport. Even that set me back
over a 100 000USD , so compared to that a X5M totals for about 90 000 USD in the states, you can understand that buying a 2013 with a bit more juice was out of the question.

However, it got all of the must haves, and then some.
Adaptive drive, active steering, navi pro, hifi pro, m-sport interior and exterior packages, panorama sun roof, comfort seats, blutooth, black roof upholstery, OEM 20" wheels on runflat 275 fronts and 315 rears.

So far I love the car, the diesel engine is braked to 286 hp, with 574nm.
It is a fun engine, and during the next month it will be upgraded to 324hp /660nm.

As for other mods, I have done some minors.
LED bulbs in the Angel Eyes / Coronas
LED licence plate lights.
LED fog light bulbs.
The leds gives the car a complete different look, and I love it.
Tinted windows, 35% side windows, and 20% rear.
The car does not have the shadowline-package, so I have to
black out the alu/chrome around the windows, as well as the chrome on the grill/kidneys.
The car was delivered with 20" winter wheels as well, on 285 studded Nokian hakka 7´s. I had the same tires on my last Audi as well, and they are amazing. Probably none of you american boys ride with studded tires, but its quite common here in norway, since we have a lot of snow and hard packed ice on our "roads".
As for the winter rims, I think Im gonna plastidip them black.

I have also mounted the X5M door stills, and gear knob. Just for the looks.

last night I also added some 3M Di-Noc carbon foil to the aluminium interior trim. - Came out great !

And now, some photos :

I´ve just ordered the LCI rear tail lights, and also ordered some 22" 214-style wheels with 295 front and 335 rears. Think that will be a good upgrade.

Thanks for having a look, and if you got any tips for mods, please comment

Very nicely done! Like it very much.

Did you have the exhaust replaced with aftermarket? Mind telling me what exhaust is that? I have been looking for similar setup with quad exhaust tip but have not got much luck

Thanx guys !

The exhaust is stock. Just the tips that have been replaced.
Local shop makes them (probably buying bulk from china and putting their brand on them)
Here is a link to their webshop :
http://www.gsbildeler.no/nettbutikk/vare/154/2097979
They total for about 615 USD.
Here is a link to Hartge-tips from the same local shop:
http://www.gsbildeler.no/nettbutikk/vare/154/928213
Totals at stupid 1900 USD ! And thats just for tips ..no exhaust, just the tips !

Thanks for the prompt reply and providing detailed info Hanger. Much appreciated.

US$1900 just for tips??? Omg..I would never pay that price just for tips..lol

Might try to approach local shop and see if they can custom make it..

A custom job to make quad tips should be no problem for a shop with pipe bending tools and a welder. 1900 for two steel pipes is just stupid. You could probably buy a pipe bending machine, a weld, go to welding school, and buy enough pipes to set up shop for that price.

That looks very nice! And yes, my mother sold her SL500 to a friend I have in Trondheim and he was also complaining about the insane prices of vehicles in Norway.

By the way, yours looks a lot like my father's previous X5. His was a model year 2008. He has an LCI 2013 now in dark blue...

@BMW E70: Are there other differences on the Euro and US than the amber/red ?

@P1et :
Yes, they look almost the same.
I see your father had the shadowline package. I do not.
I live in Trondheim btw.

@Hanger: As far as I am aware, they are the only differences. I just do not want to get into trouble with the cop over here when they see my red turn signal flashing and I prefer amber flashing than red anyway

@BMW_E70 I agree with you on that
Have a look at german ebay (www.ebay.de) for euro-stuff.
Most sellers are able to communicate in english, and also willing to ship world wide if asked.

In that 1st pic your paint is dripping wet. What a great shot. You take great care of her pics look awesome

hmmmm maybe throw a set of spacers on there so your new super clean 20's poke out a bit more???? Spacers are about $100-150 or so US for a set and completely reversible so that might be an easy one to try out. (Unless you have different rules in Norway about spacers.) In any event it looks AWESOME

@babyCAP
Thank you !

I allready got spacers on there. Those are the OEM M-sport wheels, so even with 20mm spacers, they still is a bit on the safe side. I guess BMW is afraid of damages to the paintjob on the flares and arches.
However, just ordered some 22" with a different ET, and a rear tire dim of 335.25.22, and front dim of 295.30.22, that will become flush with the wheel arches.

The Norwegian rules regarding use of spacers is kind of complicated.
If you want to run them without the risk of any hassle, you have to book
an inspection at a government vehicle inspection branch, have your TÜV paperwork with you, get it stamped , pay up, get more stamps, a shitload of paperwork is going back and forth, and in about two weeks, you get new registrationpapers, that states that you can run just that particular brand and size of spacers, that were approved during the inspection.
However, if you choose to play stupid, and don´t mind the risk of getting some hassle, you could just run them.
Worst case scenario is getting pulled over for a technical inspection. (a regular highway cop will not bother with spacers) (witch I have been pulled over for once, during my 18 years of driving, so not much risk) If you get stopped for a tech-spec, you will probably meet a rulebook expert, government official, that will make a big deal out of you not having the spacers in your registration papers. However, he can not give you a ticket for this. He can only make you book a inspection to have them registrated to your vehicle, or you can simply remove them. Got to love the bureaucracy.

Ahhh this is like in the US where you could get an inspection notice for too dark of a window tint. You might get a ticket (no fine) that you must have the car inspected by a date certain. You remove the tint and then go to the inspection and they approve. Then drive back to your window tint shop and re-tint!!!

Def share some pics with the 22s!!!!!

Thanks man! Removed what i could figure out how to remove.
Right and left trim close to the steering wheel came of easy. Glove box trim and
the long trim on both sides of center consolle stayed on. Door trim sucked to remove. Need to remove the entire door cover, as they are screwed in from the back side.
