Need Help deciding on X?

Hey everyone,

So I am in the market for a alternative vehicle to replace my hummer h3. I have mostly decided on the 2013 BMW X5 35i (E70). I'm currently looking to spend less than $23,000 with less than 70,000 miles. I have found many in this range. However I also have an eye on the X6 35i (E71) and the 2014 X5 35i (F15). If I decide on X6 I have to drop down to 2011. If I get the F15 I have to go up to $27,000.
My question essentially is, in you honest opinion, is it really worth getting the F15 or E71 over the E70?
This will be a daily commute vehicle, as well as 2-3 road trips a year, and gravel roads to some mountains and lakes.
THANKS

Given the $ you want to spend, I would choose an E70 if it were me. Overall I'd rather have the newer F15 though, especially with the G05 coming out next year, the E70 will soon be 2 generations old.

As I have said on this forum before, it's all about the packaging/options on these vehicles. You could order them a million different ways. An F15 at 27K is going to be a stripped down/mostly option-less 35i - if that doesn't bother you, that's probably the better route to go IMO. I've been poking around at 2014/2015 F15 50i's, and with the packages/options I'd want, they're 50-60K, so 27K is going to be a bare-bones model.

At 23K you should be able to find a decently optioned E70 35i under 70K miles. I'd recommend the Sport or M Sport packages and multi-contour seats, and in a perfect world Adaptive Drive. Might not find all of those packages under 23K though - the nicer 2013 35i's are still high 20's to low 30's.
