X6 40d X6M Conversion

Hi. After a century of waiting my Alpine white X6 40d will be delivered this Saturday. i cant wait!

I ordered all options except leather dashboard, TV module and roof rails. So I have loads of gizmos to play with. Especially looking forward to experiencing the 8 spd gearbox and the adaptive drive.

It is alpine white with aluminium trim and beige interior (I had saddle brown on my previous 535d so I wanted something else now).

I'll be picking up in the UK, then doing some site-seeing before heading thru the english channel on to france, netherlands, prague and poland for holiday.

wondering how to drive - in terms of revs and speed - with a new car on such a long trip?

Yup its here! Waw! What a machine. first comments:

1. Look - In Alpine white, it looks big and very sporty. When u go close u realize how huge it is.

2. 40d Engine - very quiet! Much quieter than I had imagined, and certainly more quiet when compared to the 35d. Very smooth with a nice growl when u go about 3000rpm

3. Gearbox - the best improvement over old models. changes are very quick , smooth and hardly noticeable when driving normally. When using the manual pedals, the changes are almost instant.

4. Suspension (Adaptive Drive) - Now this is the most amazing part of the car for me. With 4 people in the car it drive very comfortably over rough roads, yet when u hit hard tight corners on the country roads, there is no body roll and the outside torque distribution holds the car amazingly thru the corners! I was quite amazed. Prefer using comfort mode to sport mode for the suspension - even when going fast round corners. The sports mode is quite brutal!

5. High beam assist - Charging very fast at night on the country roads, i had no time to keep clicking high\low for the oncoming cars. And this was great cause the car was doing it for me! very nice.

6. Cruise control with stop and go - a real blessing to have. Works very nicely on the highway and in traffic. cant go without it anymore!

more to follow.

Pics below. Had the car for just over a week now, already done 3000kms, so starting to push into the higher revs.

Haven't taken any pics yet of the interior, but I have beige interior with Aluminium trim.

Conversions to be done:

1. The only kits i like on the market are the ones based on the X6M. Thus I shall do a X6M conversion first.

2. White Angel Eyes

3. X6M wheels

4. black interior floor mats and rear boot floor mat

Smile

X6M conversion is done. Went quite quickly. Thus in the future i can put eg. the Voorsteiner kit on it. This is not as extreme as the Hamann and Lumma kits thus it works for me.

Pics below were taken during our tour around europe this week.

Besides the front bumper and fascia, what else is part of the M body? How much did everything costs? Thanks Ronald.

other parts other than bumpers and grills are:

1. side M sills - when u open the door.
2. Fender arches have to be changed. If u look carefully u will see that the rear fender arch hasnt been changed yet - will do it soon.
3. Complete front fenders are changed - left and right.
4. Wheels
5. Exhaust is a custom conversion. Silencer is not changed. So the car is still nice and quiet. Only end pipes are changed.

Yay you got it finally!
Wow the conversion looks so different! Have you been on the M25 with it???? I saw what we thought was a white X6M with my partner on the M25 about 7.00pm one Saturday evening going Anticlockwise had the body kit and exhausts etc.

The front bumper looks fantastic! Its the best one the M one in my oppinion.

Hi Amy. Yes. Its awesome! I was indeed on the M25 saturday at around 7pm, but we were going clockwise heading to Reading.

here are interior pics. Sorry the pic quality is not up to standard.

I have the Premium Stereo Sound System hence the crome boarders around the speakers.

for the life of me I can't understand why BMW does not paint the wheel arches and bottom bumper trims to match the body color...they provide this with the x5 m sport pkg...IMO, this should come standard...looks SO MUCH BETTER

great job....
