False Alarms

I second getting a pro install...

I was getting a lot of false warnings from behind and noticed whenever a Nissan was behind me was when i got it...it only set off the Escort, not my Blinders. So my installer did a slick job of putting metal tape he painted black over the rear Escort Laser Jammers...no more falses and I am still protected.

Other than that it has worked great...no tickets!
This confirms it.

Do u get false jamming from other vehicles' laser guided cruise control? I do too.I notice maybe also from Lexus ?

Thanks everyone.

We will definitely be getting a professional install. We have a guy who has done our cars the last 15 years (used to use k40's until switching the 2010 750Li xdrive to the 9500ci), but we usually dictate where we want everything.

I get false signals from Audi's a lot, but radar not laser. Usually the Q7 or the A6. Strangley, enough the k40's in my other cars are set off by the 750 (believe its the blindspot assist).

do you have a picture of the steering wheel mounted usb?

The passenger side dash is another option. Still searching for other alternatives.

I think the controller and display will go in the ash tray above the cupholders.

Don't quite know what usb u r speaking of.
Main module & update jack & spkr r all under dash, driver's side in my case.
Stealth & access convenience are the factors to consider.
Control module needs to be within easy reach so u can quickly switch off laser jammer after u r hit 1st time, so the police can take a 2nd reading @ a slowed down speed. If he gets jammed on a 2nd or 3rd try then he knows u r jamming him. if jamming is illegal in that jurisdiction, u'll get a ticket just the same.Don't forget to install stealth diode behind vent louvers for driving in areas that prohibit electronic countermeasures.

the usb im speaking of is the update jack.

i agree on the steal and access features are important. on the 7 i have the control and display hidden in the ash tray above the cupholders. so all i have to do is close the lid on it and they cant see anything.

on the x6 the ashtray is in front of the cupholders as well. instead of a wood cover that folds down its a slider that covers the ash tray. thats where i am planning to put my control and display as i can easily hide them if need be. Not to worried about shutting off after getting hit with laser as i dont usually drive in states where its illegal.

I just HAVE to bump this thread.

That install is a complete failure. The heads have to be mounted so they have a CLEAR view of the road. Putting them behind the grill will make them useless. As for the rear heads, are you planning on protecting the bottom of the bumper? Those heads should have been places between the license plate and tail lights to provide optimum coverage of the rear.

Btw, that RD that you have looks like a pos. Get at least a V1 or a Redline.

Main control:

Main display (green right led is Escort, right is Blinder)

Blinder jammer on right side (he made a custom bracket):

Escort front ride side in middle grill:

Rear jammers (another custom bracket):

Radar Unit (I wanted it as high as possible):

Haven't truly tested it yet...

which states is the jammer legal? I thought it was illegal everywhere. for what it's worth, I got a speeding ticket on Friday with my Valentine 1 - got hit with a laser, tried to slow down but he got me...I think it's time to look into jammers if they are legal in NY and NJ

Wow, obviously I should have checked with you before going ahead...your knowledge is spectacular, since you can't even recognize that the "RD" is the Escort 9500ci, built in Radar/laser unit, and the heads, despite being in all the wrong places (though i doubt you have even seen an X6M)have saved me 3 times already...thanks for the great post!
