New to X5 general concerns

I've had a 06 330xi. I now have an 03 530i. My brother has. 530 and my other brother has a 530. All my friends have bmw. But nobody has an X5!

Wifey and I are in need of a family SUV and I would like to look at the x5. Not necessarily brand new hut maybe a 2010?! Idk yet but def not a brand new one. I don't think our budget will allow that. In any event I'm wondering if there are certain issues the X5 are prone to? Remember when the 335 came out and the fuel pump caused a lot of people headaches?! I'm tryin to initiate a comparison to something similar. I'm well aware bmws are finicky ladies but I wanted to hear from X guys if there are def certain issues they are known for in either 09, 10 or 11?!? Fuel pumps? Cooling issues? Gasket issues? Idk. Anything that you could offer that would turn off somebody from purchasing the X5?!

Thanks in advance!

My wife has a 2011 with the 3.0 turbo for the last 3 years. Very early in life it completely died and had to be towed to dealer. It had a bad main computer, replaced under warranty, and has been excellent since then.

I've owned a 2005 X5 3.0 that I bought new and drove it for 100K miles with zero issues. Now, I own a 2013 X5 35i. I think I'd go with a certified used X5 with warranty and you'll be good.

get it CPO, they're usually solid if you keep up with maintenance and dont abuse it. expect minor things to go wrong with electrics if anything but the warranty will keep you covered. put about 60k on my 09 4.8i with no problems at all

My 2006 X6 had many expensive repair items fail with less than 75k miles... 4x4 system, airbag, serious oil leaks, coolant tank, sunroof, alternator, you name it... I love the way they drive (currently in a 2011 X6) but would HIGHLY recommend BMW or 3rd party extended warranty on any used BMW you plan to continue to own after the 4YR/50K mark... My 2006 530i wasn't much better btw...

x5 m lighting defect?

I recently got a 2011 x5 m..Does anyone know why my halos/tail lights would not light up when clicking the unlock button on remote? They were working for awhile they suddenly stopped. The welcome light settings are on and lighting is also set on auto...could it be battery problem? it did indicated "low battery" and "increased battery discharge" but went away......feedback please?

Make sure that you have the light settings on auto.

I stated already, it is on auto. Could there be any other solution?

Definitely get one with a BMW warranty. If you can afford it get the turbo six 35i: just as fast as the 07-10 4.8i V8 and not as thirsty!
