Bed liner on underside of Front lip?

Read about a few guys on m3 forum doing it on the underside of the lip to help prevent scraping/curb damage. Anyone here heard of it of have it done? Lowering the X5m soon and wondering if it actually works....

That doesn't sound like a logical idea. I'm guessing you're talking about protecting the plastic as opposed to the paint. To put the bedliner on you would need to sand down the paint on the bottom of the lip which is you damaging your lip instead of the curb. If you're using the spray can version of the bed liner then your wasting your time, it's garbage and will not protect the plastic. You could buy the roll on stuff or professional spray and that will work better to protect the plastic but that depends on the entry angle for when you hit the curb. In order to fully protect you would need to paint enough to have the liner visible, which you probably wouldn't want. The curb would also still scrape or crack the liner and you would have to touch it up. The other concern is that when you hit curb like that you push the bumper up which damages other components and can crack the plastic mounting locations or damage the radiators. The damage done to the plastic or paint on the underside is just a small indicator of damage that could be done by hitting the curb.

I believe it may not be worth the trouble and you're better off just avoiding the curbs by parking way away from the wheel stop in your parking spot. The other concern when lowering is basic road rash from rocks in the front gets worse. You can look at a clear bra to protect the paint from chipping.
