Here's What The 2009 BMW X6 Looks Like When It Hit's A Deer On Track

Unfortunately, accidents do happen and during our test drives today one of the members of the press hit a deer ON the track at about 75mph (120 km/h) at the Michelin proving grounds in South Carolina.

The deer's a goner but the driver is fine because as usual, the BMW did its job and protected the X6's occupants.

BMW can't pay for better advertising than this.

That is an excellent X-ray view of the ex-front fender of an X6 xDrive 50i.

BTW: Joey Babs -- it's plastic.

Sure it's plastic, but, having said that, it is a very high-tech plastic which is supposed to have strength somewhere between aluminum and steel. It is used on the current generation X5 and most owners have no idea. In some of their engineering literature, BMW is very proud of the fact that the fender is a one-piece casting (moulding?) -- apparently very difficult to do, even with plastic.

I have an idea the hood is made of the same stuff, but I wouldn't swear to that. Anybody know for sure? BMWMC?

I guess even the bull dog faced X6 can still get a bloody nose.
