X5 E70 4.8i 2009 Low Oil Pressure Light

Hi guys,

I bought a used BMW 4.8i 84000 miles privately yesterday, I did a test drive and there were no issues. I drove the car home about an hour 80miles without an issue, I left the car idling in my residential car park and a oil pressure low light came on the dash and heads up display. I parked the car checked the oil level in idrive and dipstick and was all fine.

I’ve left the car overnight and started it this morning, the light did not come on. I let it run for a few minutes idling and it was all normal.

I’ve booked it for an manual oil pressure test on Monday with a bmw specialist.

Has anyone experienced such an issue, should I get the car towed to the garage?

This seems like a serious issue, the previous owner has not seen this before but also has not driven the car for extended periods of time recently.

Any thoughts on this would be very appreciated.

To add just had a look at the oil pressure switch I think it’s it’s covered in oil residue.

I think that’s the oil pressure switch location.
