X5m vs. X6m wheels

I'm planning to upgrade from a 5.0 to an M in February. Does anyone know if the hub diameter of an x5m wheel is the same as of an X6M? Thanks in advance.

Where is the difference between the 74.1 and 72.6 hub?

In the past it only was the e39 who was running a 74.1 mm hub and e70 picked that hub up as well.

I was wondering if I can use M wheels on my new diesel and I read that there is a difference between non M and M hubs?

The X5M, X6M and X6 all have smaller diameter rear hubs than front hubs (72.5mm instead of 74.0mm). You can run M wheels on your X with adapters from ECS tuning or by changing the bore of the rear wheels to fit.

Thank you for the clarification.
What was in BMW mind when mixing up hubs between front and rear?

yeah my question wasn't that smart.

In fact I had an e39 (74.1 mm)with e60 (72.6 mm)wheels back in the day and the adapters are laying somewhere around.

So who is selling M wheels cheap?

This is not correct "You can run M wheels on your X with adapters from ECS tuning". The adapters from ECS, or anyone else, will not enable you to use X6/X5M/X6M rear wheels on a X5. Boring is the only option currently available to anyone wanting to do that (which I have done).

There's plenty of "74.1 -> 72.6" adapters on amazon/ebay/ECS/etc.

Just to add to this, the 74.1 --> 72.6 mm adapters are actually spacers with hub adapters built in. As far as I know there is no way to make the 74.1 mm hub fit in a 72.6mm wheel without pushing the wheels out at least 15mm.

Thats what I meant by adapter, I know its a spacer. But honestly 315's don't fill the the rear arches very well. 15mm spacer in the rear makes it look much more aggressive and fills the space perfectly without overdoing it. I use 15mm rear/12mm front on my stock M wheels to make it sit more flush with the arches. I've had an e70 4.8i as well and ran x6m wheels on it... There are spacers/adapters out there to do it.. Boring it is always an option but not what I wanted to do.

Nice. Any pics of your setup? I'm currently debating boring vs spacers, but wasn't sure how spacers would look on the X5.

I don't have pictures with spacers and my OEM wheels, I had them on for maybe a week before putting my 22's on. I will try and find you what it would look like though. My good friend uses that setup and would have pictures. I'll ask him for a couple and send you a PM.

That would be great, thanks! I ran spacers on my M3, but they don't seem as common around here.

I really don't want to argue this but there are not for the E70 (when I looked earlier this year). I actually purchased them from ECS and had to return them. The bolts were not correct and there none made that would work.

I have heard of a few people running them...never payed attention to who made them though.

Spacers themselves are pretty common here not sure why anyone would say they aren't. I run 15/25mm on my M and 12/20 on my wife's diesel.

This is mine but only 25mm on the rears for winter. I think the 15/25 is perfect I have seen 30mm on the rear but it was too much in my opinion.

The diesel running 12/20mm

My ///M running HREs

I had the HRE rear hubs bored out so they would fit my diesel as well. I had a wheel repair shop do it they said it's pretty common it cost a couple hundred bucks. Now I use a hub ring when I run them on the ///M
