Nice 2012 X5 50i with AD and comfort seats for sale at local PA dealer
There's a nice, locally owned and serviced 2012 X5 50i (white/black Nevada perforated leather, comfort seats, self leveling suspension AND Adaptive Drive, 26K mi) for sale at a local BMW dealer nearby. Asking price is $47.6K (about 10% too high in my opinion, but it's got GREAT options). The car has not been run through the shop yet. The dealer is planning on doing a CPO.
This is what the sales rep has sent me so far:

I did check Autotrader 1st and didn't see it, then checked the CPO page at BMWUSA.com. Which is further validation for those searching for an X5 to check this page - it seems quite a few dealers post here but not on Autotrader. |

Also, would you buy a CPO from PA? Should I be worried about bent rims, corrosion and rust? I may have mentioned it but my 135i rims will have to be refurbed - the paint was peeling off and I didn't catch it at PPI. Also, not a warranty item. MN car. |

OK, it seems as if I have to use Internet Explorer and the filters don't work worth jack.
Doing a VIN search on this car shows that it's got a few option combinations I haven't seen before: 1) S220A Niveauregulierung Self-levelling suspension - I haven't seen this one without the 3rd row seating. Plus, I hear you have to be prepared to change the bags. If that's the only issue, fine. But I don't plan on towing with it. 2) S451A Aktivsitz für Fahrer Active seat for driver and S456A Komfortsitz mit Memory Comfort seat with memory. What seats do the driver and passenger get? With my bad back I have to have either sport seats or comfort seats. I've never come across the S451A! Other than that this could be my car. You only get 11 months of maintenance but would probably go the full 2 yrs/100K miles of CPO after that. I can live with that. |

My only personal experience is this - I'm in Seattle and paid to have a PPI done on a 2011 X5 that was for sale locally, but was originally from NJ. The PPI turned up a few red flags, most notably 'considerable corrosion on the undercarriage.' I'm not saying all vehicles from that region would be the same, but after that I just skipped over any X5 that popped in my searches from the NE. It's too bad too because there are a ton of X5's for sale in NY. Quote:
S451A Active Seat is part of the Active Ventilated Seat Package (ZAV) - only the driver gets the Active Seat. Comfort Seats (otherwise known as 'Multi-contour seats) are also part of ZAV, so the front passenger would get the Comfort Seats in this case. |

I'm about 5 minutes away from this dealer. And I have a 2011 X5 - and yes road salt and corrosion are common issues in the Northeast, but if they're taken care of, then you're good to go.
I know West German BMW in Fort Washington, PA - they're not exactly the best dealer - but don't know anything about their workmanship or anything. I have walked into that dealer like 4 times and NO one comes to me to ask if I need help or anything. I've bought cars (5 of them so far!) from Thompson BMW in Doylestown (about 15 miles away from West German) and their service department has always been top notch and very accommodating. Just my own 2 cents worth. Good luck with the car |

This car is still available ...
I recently did a complete PPI (visual and service record check) for a friend. He decided not to buy it for a variety reasons: doesn't like/want OE rear DVD system (leaves less room for your arm to rest), had a transfer case replaced under warranty at 30K mi and part of the drivers door was repainted on lease return (I have before and after pics of the scratch). As part of the PPI, I took 60+ pictures of the car (attached is a compilation), including a short video clip of the engine running and copies of most service records. Anyone interested in the PPI, please contact me. Car is at West German BMW - http://www.westgermanbmw.com/usedcar...5CL424144.aspx
