Since I've got a tablet installed, is there a way to run a cable from the JB4 into the tablet and avoid an $150 added on piece?

Fine with me - ran around 15.5L of E85 (RON107) mixed with 98 in it the other day on MAP 3 = Equivalent to RON100.

Goes as expected.

Quick update. I finally installed my JB4 and ran it for one day only. The next day my battery died (original one that went 5 years...not bad) and I had it brought to the dealer to install a new one. I took out the JB4 first (took 15min) but decided to move on to another car so I never put the JB4 back in. I have to say though the JB4 brought a smile to my face just as much as the Velos stage 2 did. Surprised me as I didn't think it would be too noticeable. For me it was very obvious the car had more power. I didn't get around to having any adjustments made like we are supposed to after mapping it or anything but ran through the 4 modes of power via the steering wheel controls on the fly (a nice feature). I bought the bluetooth and app and found that pretty cool. Thanks to whoever said I should get it. It's super easy to map and email results right from the app. Sorry this isn't too helpful. I definitely would put it back in if keeping the car. If anyone is interested I'll sell the JB4.

2 week ago I had dropped off my car, a 2013 E71 X6M, with Terry from Burger Tuning for research and development of an aggressive tune. Having dealt with him plenty on the N54 platform I was confident something awesome would come out of it, and it sure did.

Car's mods are:
Kittyless Downpipes
Drop in Filter
JB4 + BCM Module

Compared to stock it's day and night. If my butt dyno is correct, I'd have to guess at least 100 awhp increase in power, but we will know for sure once I put it on a dyno. Throttle response, turbo spool sound, and exhaust are dramatically improved. Car sounds like a beast at WOT yet fairly quite and sophisticated during regular driving. Terry created 3 maps: 1. 91 octane conservative tune 2. 93 octane more aggressive tune 3. E30 map for maximum performance. I love JB4 and it's ability to switch maps on the fly right on your steering wheel.

Update: I had BMS install the bluetooth feature on my JB4. I'm in love! You get 6 gauges to read from in real time, log, read log, email log, upload log, make user adjustments all from your phone. Sooo convenient I can't express it to you. Not having to carry my laptop around, have a wire sticking out my window, open/close hood every time I want to do some logging. Amazing.

The results were as follows:
0-60 was clocked in at 3.7 with a moderate launch. Stock time: 4.7 seconds
1/4 came in at 12 flat at 118.9 mph. Stock time: 13.0 at 110.5

I'll be taking the car to both the drag strip this Saturday and to a Dyno next week. I'll be updating this thread accordingly.

Would definitely recommend this product to my friends and my fellow enthusiasts. Install is a bit tricky, but well worth the hassle.
Thanks for doing this. BMS blew me off when I asked if I could do just this. I've had a JB4 on my 335i and on my M4. On your log it shows less then 20psi target boost (Pink line) and my 17psi actual boost (blue line) was this a run done on the stock map? Do you have logs from any of the other maps? Just looking for the boost curve under the different maps. Thanks

Hey Bud,

Sorry to hear.. 17psi is fairly aggressive. Anything beyond that requires race fuel(ms109) for sufficient fueling. These cars run 8psi stock. You should scoop up the JB4 from the member above and get it installed, 110% worth it

Thanks for the reply. The stock boost for the S63 in the E70/71 X5M and X6M is 17.5 psi. I just saw the thread Terry posted about tuning your X on Bimmerb**st and the first runs do start around 8 psi. I'm curious if that is a function of using the BCM's and starting at the default wastegate spring pressure. It is common on the older X5/6M's to have cracked vacuum lines and run that boost. There is a couple of threads about it. I have the Awnon gauges and it shows 17.5psi under WOT. With the AA tune I see 21psi at WOT.

I guess the stock turbos are maxed out pretty much at 18-19 PSI like Terry said in the thread about tuning your truck.

I'll get the JB4 regardless for the features and the ability to adjust the boost since I have a set of PURE stage one turbos installed but haven't been able to push them with the out of the box tunes available.

Thanks again for sharing the info.

Bought this from Tailwinds, just haven't installed it yet. Sick335, are those three maps he loaded on your JB4 pretty standard? I'm just curious about what to do after installing this seeing as I've already got a stage 2 tune. I've written Halim, my tuner, via WhatsApp but he's on the other side of the country so there's a delay. I just don't wanna have the wrong map on, got WOT and cook my motor the first time out.

Updates please! I want to know more about the pure turbos.... Did you notice any improvement with them right out of the box?

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been out of the country for quite a few months.

As for out of the box, the Stage 1 Pure turbos did not make any noticeable difference with the stock tune or with the AA stage 2 tune. I think Stage 1 is pretty worthless on these. The our turbos are basically the same as the N63 but with a larger compressor. The turbine is the same size.

The Pure stage 1 takes the compressor and makes it larger again but leaves the turbine the same size. You can see with the stock turbos the power falls off pretty quickly. It still does the same with the stage 1's. The turbine is just too small and the back pressure is killing any flow gains from the compressor up top.

I did these because Pure will upgrade stage 1's to Stage 2's for the price difference and the Stage 2's weren't out at the time. So I recommend if you're getting turbo upgrades do not waste your time on these and go with the stage 2's. Of course they are 5k so now you are getting deep into the gains vs cost calculation. No one has made much power beyond the tune and DP point and talked about it at least on the E70/71 platform. Not to mention what the drivetrain can take.

I stand behind if you want to go faster then the tune and DP point on this platform just trade it in for the new 2014+ X5/X6M. The S63TU is a much better motor to start with, not to mention the rest of the truck.

This still begs the question...was AA's tune the same canned tune for anyone vs being custom tuned for those turbos? This isn't a new thing yet easily forgotten that just about EVERY substantial mod like that requires a custom tune to actually utilize it fully. I've yet to see a single tuner for the S63 actually say they've got a tune that is anything more than stage 1 (stock car, just a little quicker) and stage 2 (catless downpipes, maybe mufflers). Until I see a tuner say a special stage for custom turbos like on the N54, I think this is only telling half the story as to why it doesn't feel any different.

If you want to go faster than tune and DP, I say go JB4 first before going turbos. The power from stock to flash was a jump, the power from flashed to stacked with JB4 was a leap.

No need to beg....

I ran the standard stage 2 tune. All the tuners have the same tune that was made by the same person. They are just vendors not tuners. Nobody has a custom tune for the S63 non-TU motor. The market is to small and there are no more gains to be had beyond the stage two with the stock turbo.

If you read the thread where Burger Motor Sports tuned the truck that started this thread you will see extra boost beyond the canned stage 2 tune level on the stock turbos does nothing.

Completely untrue. Stacking the JB4 with a tune on this platform is a waste of money. That is only effective if the tunes can not reach the max effective boost levels for the turbo/motor. Not the case at all with our motor. This is valid with the S63TU motor, not ours.

Myaddiction,

I have Velos Stage 2 tuning on my 2010 X6 5.0. I was thinking on getting the JB4. Are you saying that both of these are the same?
