I am not sure...I don't really track the mileage on the tires. They had a full summer/fall on them and I will use them again this winter the DWS is still visible on the tread I figure this will be the last winter out of them. I might go pick up a set Hapillatias today and I will put them on my wife's and use the DWS on my M.

Guys,
So after getting some more opinions, I've narrowed it down to 3 tires: 1) Hankook i-cept 2) Blizzak DMV 3)Hakkapiliita R2 between those 3 (price not an issue), in terms of a good balance of extreme snow/ice/slush handling and good road handling, what would you choose? |

I just picked up a set of Hakkapilita tonight, my friend ran a set on his QX56 last year and said they were amazing. I have a friend that manages a tire shop he said Hakkapilita are the best winter tires you can period. I will likely run them on my wife's diesel and put the DWS on the M for my winters.

Thanks for your answers, I'll be trying to survive with the 'stones bcos, Calgary doesn't seem to keep snow piling the whole winter and other than my cul-de-sac, all roads are cleaned and properly paved on pea gravel that kills every windshield know to mankind!

I live in michigan where we get plenty of snow similar to Germany. I run 21" style 215s in the summer. I use the Oem 20" rims for winter and run 275 Blizzaks all around. I love the blizzaks, have used them for many cars including the x5m and e60 m5. Plan on using them in the future for my next f10 m5.

In Calgary either ECUProgram down by chinook or Kal tire at 3314-32nd st NE. I know the manager at Kal Tire and he he is car enthusiast and a very fair guy. If I already have them on a set of winter wheels I will just swap the rims/tires at home.

Thanks! I have a good jack but can't find the hoisting points...Considering the DWS (recommended by Sylvan) as don't plan to drive fast through winter, good price at Canadian Tire

Have a look at your jack and make sure its correct most smaller floor jacks are only rated up to 4,000lbs and X5s are over 5,000lbs

Windsailor, go for speedoptions, they have the top of the line hunter balance machine, and will do a good job
OP, i say go for Nokian if you are after full winter ice/snow traction. But as is the case with true winter tires, they are soft, will compromise the handling, and increase your fuel consumption. However, that's the price paid for not getting stuck when it turns nasty out |

Thank you both! Will do Sylvan...just looking for the puck for the jack. But I don't need the 5000 lb at once as it's only one tire, right? Tires hunt today starting at Speedoptions, ECU Program and Tunerworks

I'm selling an almost brand new set.
I just sold my 2012 X6M and I have an almost brand new set of Style 298M with full wheel and tire package including Goodyear Ultra Grip Run Flats already mounted and balanced with TPMS sensors, valve stems, wheel caps. These are winter tires. I'm selling them for $2,200. they are located in Northern Virginia, for pickup or I can ship them to you. They have less than 1K miles on them.

I just saw a local set go for $2,000 I thought about it but the 19" 298 are so ugly I couldn't stand to have my rig look like that for 6-7 months out of the year.

Oh really? that's cheap, seems like a good deal. Yes they don't look great, but it's not completely terrible, i sacrificed for tire size

Ya I almost bought them just to flip them, if they were in Calgary I would have but they were in Edmonton. I have the OEM 20" just sitting so the $2,000 for the 19" I would rather just buy winter tires for the OEM wheels.
