Anyone Running Meth Injection

I am considering running meth injection on my X5M, has anyone tried this yet? I'm not interested in getting it tuned for higher boost, just let the ecu compensate for the cooler charge and help clean the valves.

Anyone have any experience on these cars or any others?

I'm looking into doing the same and have been emailing with Aquamist on their HFS-4 kit and I'm still waiting on Snow Performance to get back to me on their 210 kit.

I've been trying to follow in the footsteps of the M5 guys, but at this point we don't have flash tuners that'll let the meth controllers and our ECU's talk directly to each other for their failsafes in case of meth system failures, we can't run the Burger Motorsports JB4 (data logging) or BCM (wastegate control) for their multitude of uses. Then there's the fact that the S63 and S63TU are wildly different...we don't have MAF sensors, our plastic charge pipes have electronic blow off valves vs the M5 guys who can buy metal charge pipes with welded on meth bungs.

At this point spraying meth will only be for is cleaning properties (big selling point seeing what 335i guys have to go through to avoid carbon buildup) and added octane (I've considered running 100/108 from a pump just to see if I'd even notice the difference beforehand), but since we're the bastard child of the ///M world, it's still untouched territory.

I'd be interested on what kind of benefits that we could se on a hot day. Snow advertises as dropping intake temps as much as 100 degrees. I am hoping that it would lake driving on a hot summer day feel like a nice cool winter night.

Still no reply from Snow, even after leaving a voicemail pointing out that two emails have gone unanswered :-/

That's disappointing. I'd love to be able to tap into the throttle position sensor and have it spray when above 70% throttle.

AEM and AquaMist are the two that are highly regarded. With Snow a close 3rd.
The harness on the AEM unit makes the install a snap. Also the pump runs in continuous operation (can be disabled) so that you don't have to purge anything (like the Snow kit)

Note, tuning is typically required to extract max performance.

Meth for any forced performance car, let alone a direct injection vehicle is a wonderful thing. But the lack of tuning options would prevent most from doing it.

Which AEM kit are you referring to?

I know the tuning is required for optimal usage, but it seems the BMS Stage 1 is the only thing out there as it'll also control their own meth kit. Problem is I'm flash tuned to a stage 2, so going to stage 1 would be going backwards.

At this point I'm planning on going cheap and using 30° washer fluid with a bottle of Heet and using it for it's cleaning ability and whatever adjustment the ECU makes by itself in noticing the increased octane. This is why I can't decide on a super simple $300 kit or a fancy $900 kit that I may never get full usage from.

There is only 1 AEM kit. The one for "Forced induction." What you really want is a failsafe. Solid failsafes. This is what the extra cost comes from in other kits.

Of course at the same time, since you're not tuning for it specifically, it may be moot...

I talked to a tech at Aquamist after beating a dead horse that we don't have a MAF, tuning, etc I wanted to know what fail safes apply to us. I reiterated I wanted more than an idiot light that I likely won't notice during WOT on a meth gauge basically telling me it's too late. He said his kit is the best because it uses injector duty cycle (IDC) and (this isn't verbatim) it ties into the boost control solenoid to interrupt boost if a meth flow issue is sensed.

Being the Aquamist HFS-* costs almost 2x as much as the Snow Performance 210, I'm just trying to make sure which is justified considering our limitations.

I don't know if this is correct on our cars.... I don't think the lose of meth, can interrupt the boost control aspect of our cars.....

Copy and paste from our last email:

It does not control the ECU but interrupting the signal from the ECU to the boost control valve.

So the Aquamist system tells my ECU to cut boost? If so, that's great and what I've been trying to understand. I just wanna make sure that watching a gauge light up saying that there's a meth flow problem isn't my only failsafe and I wasn't sure how any of the meth systems out there would have control of my ECU somehow.

so this would have to be spliced in? I don't see how a plug and play system would work...?

also, how would you? have you figured out to tune with this....if we are running any brand tuning, are we gonna need to cut back for safety anyway?

Isn't it possible to The Bms tune supplied from burger stacked with a reputable meth kit ? Seems so easily done and available for the n54s

Yes, BMS has released the JB4 for the S63 since this conversation had started. Their meth kit is a very generic Devils Own system, the Aquamist is far superior, but unfortunately Terry will give zero to little support unless you use his meth kit with the JB4. I found out a week too late as I've got a BNIB Aquamist HFS-4 setup sitting in my garage that I'm trying to sell before buying the BMS JB4, BCM and meth combo.
